Apple Car Play – Review

Apple Car Play – Review

The term “car stereo” doesn’t adequately describe what’s in the dash of most new cars. Over the past few years, what once was a simple music-making machine has transformed into a full-blown…

MrJIMBOISAWESOME says:

Buy the looks of things not everything is automatic for example you have to
press on something yo send a message or even to reply to a message this is
dangerous… Not only are u focusing on that you’re taking it eyes off the
road and some idiots will be mostly poking around seeing what it can do
causing even more accidents and road deaths… Mobile phones are the
leading deaths on the road .. Throwing this in the mix will reduce by what
? 3% ? I can’t see how this can be legal…

Michael Penney says:

I managed to get Spotify to play by skipping forward a track using my
steering wheel controls.

Mr. Mathewson says:

I finally have the Apple CarPlay installed on my Avic-5000 and the only
issue I have is the carplay map/gps. The volume for that app is extremely
loud even when the head unit is turned down all the way. With the iphone in
carplay mode, the volume up and down on the actual phone is inop. I’ve
check additional settings & no luck so far.

Name dropping as well… Dick…

MrJIMBOISAWESOME says:

They need to integrate it more such as have what Google has , voice
detection, saying ok Apple and then saying text John “Oi prick you up for
drinks” and when u receive text message it automatically shouts it out …
Also have buttons on the steering wheel to help like a voice button or a
reply button or next song button

WildGoryGahan says:

Wish it was an Apple touch screen. You are putting so much effort into
those presses.

I certainly would like to use my Tomtom app on my car screen. I don’t like
apple maps.

emeyepea says:

Have been playing with it today. The Spotiy App is very random! Also, if
you disconnect the iPhone while it is still navigating, you cannot stop the
navigation on the phone.

If apple made a car. Will it have windows?

boomdigitydavid says:

So when we use the maps app it’s using up all our phone data correct?

emeyepea says:

I spent a lot of today in the car travelling for work and playing with my
Appradio4 and CarPlay. Rdio works really well. I have had a dialogue with
@pioneeruk and they tweeted me earlier that Spotify had updated. I ran the
update but still not working well. I read on a Spotify forum the issue may
relate to data connectivity issues as putting iPhone in airplane mode may
work. Last night I cancelled my Spotify sub anyway as along with the
CarPlay failure, Spotify do not support Chromecast and their iPad app does
not have Your Music functionality that the other format apps support making
the iPad app useless’ why Rdio can get all this working but Spotify not
baffles me.

I love jumping into my car and not having to touch or plug in anything to
have my music start right away. I always leave my iPod connected and it
would always start playing automatically. After this update the music never
plays until you either hit play of select a song to play on the interface.
Also I realized that when you hit playlists on the usb iPod menu to play a
playlist they somehow rearranged the playlist to alphabetical order so you
have to pick up the iPod and select the playlist from there to get the
music to play in the correct sequence you wanted it too. Apple car play is
a good feature but I never want to plug in my phone, unlock it, then select
the app and then select what I want to listen too. I’m always in a hurry
and I love jumping right into my car not having to touch anything and
having my music play right off the bat and having the correct sequence of
songs when I want to switch my music. Am I the only one with this problem
since the update? It seems like they don’t want you to use your iPod at all
any more they want you to only use your iPhone and interact more with your
interface. I’m not a big fan of having to sit and wait to go through the
steps just to get my music to play thats why I never used that app radio
mode and now it seems like thats what you have to do every time now. I just
think its more of a pain to pull out your iPhone, plug it in, unlock it, go
to the interface, select the music app, then select the music you want
before you can go, you know?
