Great job. 1991 Dakota. Fan works no air out of any vent.
THanks
hi gang, hey brad allen you sound like you know these vans well, i have a
86 dodge grand caravan 3.8, and my heater fan blows on like med speed when
its on low fan and really fast on high, it got that way after i accidently
kicked the underneath panel box on the passenger side where ur right foot
would be, now its stuck that way, i tried to kick there again so it would
go back to normal but that hasnt worked, have any idea what i can do?
YOU MY FRIEND JUST SAVE ME CLOSE TO 1000 DOLLARS IN REPAIR WORK!! DID IT
TODAY IN HALF THE TIME IT TOOK YOU… THANX TO YOU, VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!
Well done. Precisely my problem. Clear, descriptive, helpful video
need some info my 2002 dodge ram 1500 a/c air works on driver side but
passenger side just blowing outside air .. could this be a problem with the
blend door thanks.. any advice would do..
Thanks for the video, I think this is the problem I’m having. My heat/ac
only comes out the front vents. The defroster and floor aren’t working with
I switch to them. I guess I’ll tear it apart and see if the blend door is
my problem.
Great vid, my a/c and mirror heater lights are flashing. The a/c seems to
be working fine, but I did a google search and found that the hvac may have
failed a calibration test? Any ideas on how I can fix it, or do I probably
have a broken door? 2005 Dodge Ram
i have a 2004.5 dodge 2500 and i only have cold air on the passenger side
the air conditioning is fully charged and all the vents changes over fine i
was told it was the blend door but i thought it was further under the dash
not the you changed here im not sure which one is which need some help not
sure which one to replace thanks
Hey guys, There is a kit for this problem at heater treater.net. It comes
with instructions and a new steel blend door to replace the cheap plastic
one with.
That is too cool Chid, nice work and now you’ve got your heat and/or air
back, lol! I forwarded your note to Sean…it’s his truck and he’s the one
behind the camera.
The reason Dodge provides the entire casing is to correct a molding error
on the OEM part. The video shows the axle insert moving between two stop
points on the box. One stop point is missing on the original and the new
door will have the same problem as the original and break when it goes
through a calibration process. HeaterTreater has steel components and a
complete knowledge of the operation and repair of the system. With a
plastic replacement, you’ll just be doing it again in 6mos.
And that was one blend door. My truck (06-2500)is my second ride so I took
my time. I took the whole dash off, dropped the steering wheel,
disconnected the heater hoses, a/c, radiator overflow container, air intake
ducting work to access the two screw studs coming through the fire wall.
Got my plenum box out. Replaced all 5 doors with after market doors from
company called “Heater Treater.” I did not follow their directions since I
did not want to cut my plenum box up.1000screws is not the word.
dealer quoted me $550,,My symptoms are,,AC set on recirculate so it is
colder,,ac comes out of defrost vents causing huge condensation marks on
the windshield..also heat set to the floor,,,,not on recirculate also come
out of the floor AND defrost vents..Is this video my solution
That is really cool!
brad, my van is a 1996, not 86
OMG, thanks for posting your comments. That sounds like an epic job to
undertake and it says something about your high-level skill set and wanting
fix your truck for good. Amazing job.
I used to replace these daily when I worked at Chrysler….we used to just
pull the dash foward, lay it on the seat, pull up and toward you on that
cage after removing the two screws that hold it in and replace
Thanks, I would not have known that without your video, thanks again for
taking the time. My ac blows but it will never again be able to go from
indoor to outdoor air but I live in Atlanta a non smoker and never see the
need for outside air.
Great video! Thanks so much for taking the extra time to make it. My 2005
Hemi Ram had this problem and with the help of this video fixed my truck in
about 5 minutes. I simply removed the blower motor under the glove box with
a flat head finish screw driver and reached my hand up in there. Sure
enough there was the broken blend door blocking the passage. I easily
snapped it into 2 pieces and removed it. I then reinstalled the blower
motor and it blows your back now. 5 minute cure!
Thanks so much. This is spot on!
gr8 video. tom if you just removed the door does air come out the defrost,
air vents and floor or can that still be controlled? this blend door is
only for recirculate or allows outside air in? if you remove the door and
dont replace it are you allowing outside air in? or making it so no outside
air can get in? thx
Hi 2000, I assume you have a Ford(?) Your truck symptoms don’t match
exactly to those of this Dodge. On the dodge we pulled the fan motor from
the passenger side near where your feet would be, stuck a hand up inside
the hole and could feel the broken blend door. To diagnose I’d want a shop
manual that illustrates the air-flow path, or, ask the parts guy at the
Ford dealership for a screenshot of your dash internals. They’ll help you
and they’re always ready to sell you parts 😉
Hey Jun, My guess would be one of the directional doors is not opening
since you’ve got cold air going to at least one side – suggesting a
different problem than the one in the video. An air flow mechanical diagram
would really help you. The dealership may print one for you if start
talking about buying parts but you’re not sure which one. The parts counter
guys may even help you with diagnosis – then a diagram and the parts to fix
it.
Hi Joshua, you’re right, there are other air flow doors present in the
system. If you don’t have a shop manual we saw mechanical drawings on the
web that show where each of the components are located. Unfortunately you
may have to do some disassembly so you can correctly diagnose your problem
and identify which parts need to be purchased. The dealership has also been
helpful in providing mechanical drawings so that you can see the path of
the air flow. Good luck with your project.
Went to Dobbs today..I have the same problem..door broke….Said it would
be around $1200…They said it will work, but just conctrol the recirc
control….
Blows your hair back, whoops
