Fyi, always leave the old pad on the piston when pushing it back in this
keeps even pressure on the piston pushing it back while staying aligned.
I usually use a pry while the caliper is still in place to seat the piston
to make room for the new pads. This is also important if you are changing
both as you did. Pads only replacement will give you a little more lee-way.

You covered all the bases. The only thing that I would change is make sure
you crack your bleeder before you wind that piston back.
