Steven Rose says:

Bryan Burt says:

Great video!

Matt L Ferguson says:

Briansmobile1,
What make and model dodge are you doing this on?? I have a 06 Ram 3500 Mega
Cab, is it the same process??

Timmy Clark says:

Great info.

Jeffrey Duddles says:

Hi! I just picked up a 95 F150 for a few thousand bucks. It’s going to need
this kind of work. While our machines are different makes, your mechanical
style seems’s to fit how I work. I’m looking forward to watching more.
CHEERS!

briansmobile1 says:

It has air in the system. After replacing all the leaks- turn the wheel to
lock (so it can pressure release and thus release air from gear) and hold
there and rev it for about 15-30 seconds to clear the air and then let it
sit for a half hour then top off to full cold line and drive it.

2Lavelle says:

how do you know when your steering box is bad?

g6rida07 says:

lol No doubt in my mind….

HowardZ99 says:

Brian, great video. I have to replace the steering gear in my 98 TJ and
your video will help me greatly. Trying to decide which remanufactured
brand to go with, can you make a suggestion on either a remanufacturered
brand or new? Thanks for any help, Howard

James Palmer says:

DeAth woe? Gone video before and after?

Craig Cline says:

I am going to be doing a gear box on a E-150. Do you have to pay attention
to the shaft position on the new gearbox prior to putting pittman arm on?
Does the gear box have any internal stops making it necessary to have it
centered?

Aaron Laurence says:

great video man! you should have your own show

the88tlc says:

i noticed you did a stabilizer, and a gear box. did the stabilizer not fix
the problem? i have a stabilizer on, but still have the play in the
steering. was the gear box the fix?

briansmobile1 says:

Not sad. Proud.

briansmobile1 says:

@curtis9188 Thanks Curtis : )

manholewisdom says:

hey brian, Which port is the return on that steering box?

Mmuscle Feeler says:

great vid…big help…basically the same for workin on a 2000 lincoln
towncar, I assume?? and when you say tighten it to the specs….where do i
get the specs???

Craig Wallace says:

awesome video came in very handy it looks like my ram is just like yours i
got the leak solved thanks to you. have you experienced any starting
problems with yours mine hass a new fuel pump and vp44 1 month old. and it
fires right up or it will crank for about 30 seconds with the engine warm.
any ideas?

briansmobile1 says:

@rfcbeach It’s either a bad steering rack, OR the U-joints in the steering
column are bad.

brettlyjonesin says:

Great video bout to swap my steering gear box and was looking for a video
to show how to do it and this video was very detailed and gave me an idea
of what I was getting into thanks man

briansmobile1 says:

@nas979 Yes. Something is bad in the system. Could also be the power brake
unit if it’s on the same system.

midlantic1 says:

@briansmobile1 Yeah, his editing is good. Though personally I kinda prefer
your many short repair videos to Eric’s few but longer video’s. You touch
on many more different issues and I think lots of guys like that

Craig Wallace says:

I replaced the gearbox and no leak thank you very much. I noticed when
putting it back together the Pittman arm did not go fully up. I don’t
believe that should be normal is it?

briansmobile1 says:

Slide it on and then use the nut to tighten in into place.

briansmobile1 says:

Yes. For sure. At least very close.

briansmobile1 says:

Ah ha! Yours is different and doesn’t have that. The same principle applies
though the components will be different. Basically air is entering the fuel
system somewhere between the lift pump and the injection pump.

nightmathzombieethan says:

Despite my need to make fun of people who buy “vanity trucks” i.e. Guys who
will NEVER use their truck properly and just buy a big ass truck to feel
“manly” (There’s a LOT of them here in Cali), seeing this makes me want to
buy a big ass truck! It just seems a lot easier to work on. As much as I
love my little old Honda, sometime these caucasian hands are a little too
big to get into important spots! Oh, and YES, I know you’re not a “vanity
truck” driver!

TheUnicornblood says:

do you need a inliine filter as well? or inline filter is not needed?

bboor111 says:

hay Brian i just replaced my gear box and there is play in the new Steering
gearbox could the new Steering gearbox be bad or dose it need to just be
adjusted.

TheJarlsDen says:

Dude, i have epic red skyrim beard to, but i dont have the balls fix my
viking longboats powerstearing like you do. You make it look so easy bro,
but i’d prolly kill my family when i start it up if i tried it. Ima have to
shell out 365 bucks and they arnt even giving me anything for the core, tbh
i feel raped. Anyways, thanks for the vid. Viking powah meh brotha’! Fus
Roh Dah!

briansmobile1 says:

Thanks- will do.

briansmobile1 says:

Alldata, Identifix, manual, internet forum, etc.

richard mowl says:

Thanks! I figured autozone/advance probably werent that great. I think Im
gonna just spend the money on a Redhead steering gear. I had a Borgeson on
my 99 2500 but the steering stabilizer bar didnt fit with it. Also, noticed
you go through tie rods a bunch like me. Have you heard of Lukes links? I
had them on my 99 and now on the 01, they are great! Never buy another tie
rod again, and no need to get truck aligned afterward either.

eckoview05 says:

Thanks again

Stormchoirs says:

There is nothing wrong with being a ginger and those fools are just jealous
because they probably have plain old dark hair and dark eyes. Keep up the
awesome job!
