Great question. I am by no means a mechanic; however, depending on how much fluid you have in the reservoir you may want to remove some fluid (not too much) with a 60cc syringe or what I have used is a turkey baster. On this specific project I did not need to remove any fluid. As the caliper is compressed it may cause fluid to overflow from the reservoir. If it look really full take some out, and replace with some new fluid when done. Hope this answers your question.
Thanks man, great video. Quick question- do i have to do anything in regards to the brake fluid or just exactly what you did? I’ll just be replacing the rear pads soon.
Thank’s for viewing
Thumbs up!
I’ve been doing the brakes on my last 5 cars and never got the torque specs!
Thanks for the specs. Are the front the same as the rear? I’ll be doing the front brakes soon.

So SIMPLE!!!!!
Thanks for viewing.
Quick and simple brilliance. Thanks
Thanks for taking the time to view
Good video man. Informative, short, and simple. Thanks for the upload.
Thanks for the comment
I’d say a breaker bar is the second more important tool after getting through this, those large bolts are impossible to remove without one since an impact gun can’t fit in there! I finished with no problems and now my brake wobble is gone! Thanks again!
As a licenced car mechanic (in my former life) I appreciate your
video. One can’t barely make it better as shown here. As you said,
the exactly torques of the screws might be helpful for those who
need better sleeping after that. But I am fully satisfied performing it
the same way as you did. Thx.
Thanks for viewing, and the comment.
Excellent, clear and precise video, thanks for posting!
110 ft lbs on caliper brackets,25 on calipers,120 on wheel lug nuts
old pad works perfect for c-clamp compressing pistons
I did one on my 07. Not to hard at all. Its like one step past this video because they are sitting right behind the rotor. Took me two hours with basic tools.
Glad you’re still around to comment. Thanks for watching
…i have done my brake numerous times….no one ever said anything to me about BRAKE CLEANER on the new rotor. THANX!!
I don’t recall the total. It was around $100. No more than $120. I think rotors were around $40 each and brake shoes were around $30 for the set.
this will be my first brake job on this truck. i need to learn how to swap out the wheel bearings (front). I’ve been through 2 already on the right front @ $375 a pop for parts & labor. not covered by add on wrap around warranty. have you had any wheel bearing problems?
I am going to tackle this job on my 2008, 5.7 next weekend. ill have my tablet with this video close by. how much did you spend total? I can’t afford to pay a mechanic. I really enjoyed your armstrong torque. after watching 10 shaky videos this 1 was a breath of fresh air.
As long as it’s disc and not drum. It would be the same process. Ask a local napa or auto zone
I have a 2006 dodge ram 1500 4.7l 2wd is it the same process
You don’t really need the clamp, but you need something to compress the caliper.
Do you really need the clamp
Nope.
did your brakes squeak after that
Thanks for watching. Glad I could help.
GOOD JOB, THANKS YOU SAVED ME $80.00
