Cars that trip that sensor do a pressure test on the fuel EVAP system. All
the fuel that is evaporated in gas form is collected in the system and
pulled into the engine to burn so that it is not wasted. Your car
periodically closes the system and check for pressure loss. If there is a
leak it trips the check engine warning.
