For the 4wd vehicles, the bearings are sealed so there is no way to repack them.
do you have to repack the bearings?
You normally do not have to bleed the brakes as long as you do not remove the caliper from the vehicle. Once you do that, you induce air into the system and at that point, the brakes must be bled.
You don’t have to bleed the brakes after you are done ?
i just did my brakes this video was great. the truck stopped on short runs no noise of any kind but i will need rotor on pass side.big test on mon when i have to go to work.
The Journey is based off of a minivan and the Durango is based off of a truck platform so the brakes will be different.
Hey Mike are the Dodge Durango and Dodge Journey the same brake system setup? I need to replace the front pads on mine.
We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular repair. We’ll keep this request in mind during any future repairs that we may make in the future.
had my 04 durango a few yrs now.my first large suv.and i fiiinally realized something…this think does not have any front coil springs.the entire weight of the front is held up by the shocks
hey mike hope you got my message
hey mike how do you replace the Antenna on a 2006 dodge durangi?
They may be similar to the fronts. You “might” need a special tool to spin the rear calipers in if they do not compress with a C-Clamp like the fronts do. We sell the Haynes manuals on our website 1aauto.com that would tell you how to service them. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Is there anything significantly different when replacing the pads on the rear? Thanks for the frat video
In the video we show you how to clean the brake pad mounting area with a wire brush. This will help to keep the brake pads from hanging up and enable them to wear evenly.
Hi Bill, You can put some anti-squeal lube on the back of the pads to help eliminate any possible squealing noises when you use the brakes. We offer some great prices on our brake pad and rotor kits available on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393 Hope this helps you out.
Thank you very much for doing this….As of last month you didnt have this video and I asked you if it was possible to do….This is such a great help and appreciate you doing this..Theres 1 thing tho , what about putting on any anti squeal lube. Can that be put across the whole backside of each pad? also maybe on the 2005 durango in near future maybe a radiator flush…Thanks again Bill
This was great … got me right on it! 🙂
It will end up back in the brake reservoir.
You can’t really collapse the caliper to far. It will stop once it’s fully collapsed. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
When reseating the brake piston before installing the new pads, is it possible to seat them too far, (too deep)? BTW, I need a new window regulator for my 99 Durango. Checked your website, looks like I’ll be ordering from 1aauto 🙂
what about the extra oil that you push by using the c clam?
You guys do a good job showing the do-it-yourselfers.
You don’t use the ceramic lubricant for the hardware that goes on the bracket where the pads slide?
