Just a note – I’ve encountered some tie rod ends that differ from the ones being replaced such that you can’t always count on the thread counting method. The ones I just replaced on my truck differed by about 3/4 of an inch. If you are just taking the TRE off to replace something else and later reinstall the same TRE, the thread counting method is the way to go. Otherwise, you should take measurements to ensure that you are pretty close to what you had prior to starting work.
