Sorry if this is a terribly stupid question but I just ordered one of these and I have zero experience with electrical/wiring/etc, so I'm wondering, the wire that you drilled into that sanded part of your truck in the back, the ground/self tapper? What is that? What does is do?

Thanks for explaining about how to properly use the red wires on the video cable. A lot of people/directions say it is useless, but as you said, I was able to run the wire from back-up lights and camera to the monitor, and thereby saved a splice and made sure the monitor was only on when needed.
