I have a 2004 durango that has a separate climate control for the back. The
heater in the front works fine, but all the vents in the back blow cold
air. Do I have two heater cores and one of them is clogged? Or could the
problem be something else?

joebonsaipoland says:

Funny. My Brother-in-law had a old, but mint-condition used BMW 5 series. I
wanted to buy it from him, but once the heater-core started leaking he said
it would cost more to fix then to junk it. Sad, because that was a mint,
full leather package car. BMW lost another customer.

1frankgulko says:

I know nothing cars..so…when the a/c is on..I know water drips off from
the front passenger side..are there lines that water drips from? And if so
can they get clogged? And if so,where are they located and how do I unclogg
them? Thanks everybody!!!

Robert Houck says:

this video does not help at all me and my dad did his heater core in his 00
dakota 4cyl these guys dont show the hard stuff

Dave Mercado says:

Yes they can. No they won’t.

CooperLakeAutomotive says:

@brandonlcole06 This video is just to show our work it is not an
instructional video.

ragomez94 says:

How much time does it take too change it? How much does it cost the work of
it ?

digitalrailroader says:

@honjames5 they had to pull the control head, because the Mode Door
Actuators are Vacuum Controlled, and they did not want to mix up the vacuum
lines.

CooperLakeAutomotive says:

@stairmaster3001 This video is not an instructional video this is just to
show our work.

CooperLakeAutomotive says:

@ELCDD Gracias

Michael Hillebrand says:

what about the airbags how do you insure they wont go off im currently
doing this verry project

racingguru21 says:

About the redesigned heater core, what brand was it?

10kpondguy says:

i love speed up mode, makes it look so easy. lol. those bolts on the inside
of the engine compartment are hard to get to, and if the truck has ac, be
sure to have the lines drained, so that you can unhook them to get the box
out. im doing another one of these tomorrow, and they are never quick, take
your time, lol. great vid guys, very good.

CooperLakeAutomotive says:

@MrDJBNICE Thanks

MissRedrum78 says:

2000 4.7L SLT Durango overheating. Changed thermostat-flushed coolant
TWICE. Heater cores fine since flushing it 🙂 Heater works great. The crap
that came out of it tho OMG. Anywho, I am curious about the timing cover
issues I keep reading about them basically breaking down and the radiators
being somewhat flawed. Water pumps not leaking but the thing still runs hot
when you put a load on it. Cools at idle. Is it the radiator possibly??

Luvless69Chevy says:

As someone who works on cars fairly often, you just keep a mental note of
what goes where. You also look at the part, and see how it attaches, then,
you use the bolts to attach it. When I first started wreching, I put all
the bolts in a small bag that was labeled so I knew where everything went.
Now I just remember from when I pulled it apart because I’ve been working
on cars for so long now.

johnny brown says:

you forgot to mention undoing the a/c lines on the fire wall and draining
your freon. I would have have been better off going blindy then watching
your video wait I did thanks for leaving out the important details

77marco07 says:

ashly is hot

Chris Simpson says:

i did this same job to my 2000 durango about 2 months ago. Its really not
that hard just takes time.

Jj Bull says:

What they don’t show you is that you have to take the bolt out that holds
in the dipstick tube. Hard to get to is an understatement…it took me 45
minutes to take it out and put it back in…the one bolt. There is an 11mm
nut behind it that has to come out to get the HVAC unit out. Overall I
don’t think it was that difficult. You actually don’t have to take the dash
all the way out and can leave the fuse block connections on the drivers
side intact.

blahblahblah5377 says:

my dakota has a bad heater core, i can smell the antifreeze wen i turn my
heater on. but i live in georgia and yes, 2010 we had a cold winter…first
bit of slush in like 14 years. this just looks like to much work just for
like a month of cold weather.

ELCDD says:

Gracias no lo pienso hacer yo pues aunque parece facil en verdad es muy
laboreoso pero gracias por el video….

smk11685 says:

and thats why ill never buy a new car because of the bullshit you have to
do to work on them

diamond 4 hair says:

durango is always soaked with antifreeze; and thick white smoke seeps from
the vents. I am afraid of the fumes! Help 770-255-8905

ron zo says:

Logan Counterman says:

can’t yous just label this job as a pain in the ass.!!!! lol thanks for
posting it. this is what i get to do today.

MightyMouse4466 says:

I’m looking at having to do this to my Durango, how long did the repair
actually take you?

theJester517 says:

hey cooper lakes automotive, I have a question about the dash panels, i own
a 97 Dakota and want to switch the entire dash paneling with that of a
darker dakota or durango, is it possible to just take the panels off, or
does it need to come off in one piece like you guys did in this video?

SNAKERADIOS says:

Man that is a lot of work to change that core holy shit what was it like 6
to 8 hrs?

joebonsaipoland says:

Cant they make these things less complex? It seems like a lot of work for a
part that needs to be replaced on almost every car eventually.

CooperLakeAutomotive says:

@mrdirtbag49 We are located at 4739 South Cobb Drive, Smyrna, GA 30080

CooperLakeAutomotive says:

@MrOzzyfan123 These are not instructional videos and no where does it say

copilotjay says:

and its a much more shitty one than I expected.

mustie1 says:

Lonewolfs117 says:

I’m not looking forward to this on my 2001 Durango. My heater core is
leaking coolant and blows anti-freeze vapor through the vents. Where
planing on doing this are self’s, we have a friend who works on Durangos
who is going to help, any tips for going about this

DiscoDaddy82 says:

Just finished with this task, wasn’t near as bad as I thought it was going
to be. Managed to finish it up in around 8 hours. This video, instructional
or not, showed key details to make things a tad easier, thanks for posting
it!

CooperLakeAutomotive says:

@Ooomwizard I think the cadi is actually easier.

Bumbaquat says:

What sizes are that bolts that hold up steering wheel brackets 9 is to
small 3/8 is to small and 10 slips so I don’t know what to do???please
help!!!

Robert Miller says:

This was a good video but I could have used the real time version.I don’t
think fast motion did you or me justice.I wish there would have been more
side view shots as there was alot hidden and that crazy nut behind the
tranny dip stick almost pushed me to the brink.I hope never to have to do a
heater core again. .anyway good video and keep on teaching, thanks

Steve Smith says:

Thats alot of work to get to the heater core.I got 2001 dodge dakota

dead91silvia says:

What is the average time from start to finish? I’m about to start this job.
I have been a number of heater cores, but not on Mopar’s.

MDB RMB says:

@mrdirtbag49 Yes!!

flyboyjeo says:

TheReall4John1John5 says:

I have 2000 durango my is started to blow light smoke out the vent And i
have rear a/c do i have 2 heater core?

CalikingZX says:

QUESTION- a bad heater core will not heat right? mine does heat but its
leaking i guess. i have coolant on the drivers side carpet. can it be the
heater core or a bad connecting hose?

CooperLakeAutomotive says:

this video is not meant to be instructional. If it was we would have shown
it in real time.
