Fantastic video! Years worth of experience and expertise packed into 33
minutes and well worth the time it takes to watch. Thanks for taking the
time to make the video and post it!

Crazanate44 says:

Good video but I was looking for the installation and that was the only
part you skipped..

Adam Salafia says:

Is it normal for the slave cylinder push rod to always have a load on the
clutch fork/ throw out bearing causing it to always spin? When I insurt the
slave into the bell housing i have to use some force to compress the
internal slave spring. I’ve tryed cracking the bleeder to release any built
up pressure, and no luck, I also shortened the push rod by a 1/2″. I’ve
also bench blead the system like shown in video. The system is the 98-02

Good work man…very good pointers for young fellas

Marcelino, Thanks for the kind comments. Gary

SuperDutyCummins says:

wish i had a truck lift when i had to do my clutch 🙁

perfectionclutch says:

What really helps is identifying anything you can do that turns the noise
off or on. Eng running, stationary, pedal down, select a gear and remain
stationary. Noise? Release bearing was turning and pilot bearing was
active. Now shift to N and bring pedal 2/3 up, noise? Now pilot is inactive
and release bearing still turning with a good load applied to it. Mileage
and any clutch repair history helpful also. Call if you want, its free 800
258 8312 opt 4. Gary

perfectionclutch says:

@madbodhi Thanks for the kind comments. That combination sounds pretty
interesting. Good luck. Gary

will wal says:

does this apply to an 05 dodge ram 2500 cummings 6 speed manual

perfectionclutch says:

wbb55, You’re correct, my error. Sharp eyes. Thanks, Gary

Derek Wof says:

How do you bleed the system with out a blessed screw??

madbodhi says:

Came across this as I was searching for swapping info on a 6bt/nv4500 into
my 78 W250 crew.Very well done and informative.Thank you very much for
taking the time to make and post this.

will wal says:

@perfectionclutch is it possible to install the clutch pack on the flywheel
install it on the trans and install the transmission with the clutch pack
on it sorta like an automatic torque convertor

perfectionclutch says:

@GregDelR33 My 1st comments, modifications = clutch system mods, not engine
mods. Suggest calling us at 800-258-8312 Ext 4, ask for me, we can listen
and offer .02$ need your truck history and further details. Bearing bad?
Does it make noise? The bearing doesn’t create torque capacity, but under
certain faults, it can easily be contributing to a reduction in torque
capacity by holding excessive pressure against clutch finger tips. FWIW,
that’s my Son’s ’97 I’m working on. Gary

sergio ramirez says:

muy buen vídeo y buen trabajo saludos desde Acapulco, guerrero,México

Greg Del Russo says:

Oh and it has minor gear clash now…and also not enough torque to use four
wheel drive without the clutch slipping. Maybe the release bearing is bad?
I really don’t know….Ammco was worthless. They acted like I neglected the
first clutch. Yet I heard it clacking..almost sounded like valve tap. So my
guess is it was poorly aligned and maybe cheap parts. I dont’t know. I
don’t have the funds to have anyone else look at it really. Very upsetting.

perfectionclutch says:

@fortmcmurraycash Thanks, we tried to cover a lot of ground on this “older”
seperate bell housing setup. I think a lot of a sucessful installation is
attention to detail. This was burned into me by a very good friend a long
time ago. It’s easy to say, harder to practice. Gary

perfectionclutch says:

@will79601 Answered on your next question also below. Yes. The first
vehicles to use this technique that you are reffering to the clutch is know
as a MODULAR, cover, disc and F/W riveted together and I think first
appeared in the ’93 Caravan 2.5L but it is best known from the Neon
starting in ’96. It is driven by (on these) the A/T flexplate but on the
Dodge Ram G56 trans it is a drive plate, no ring gear. Gary

perfectionclutch says:

@duck806 Several possibilities. Incomplete release from a hydraulic system
that is not creating the full travel @ bearing see video on bleeding and
TESTING. Pressure plate not releasing disc. Disc splines damaged at install
creating disc drag on F/W, no release. At any swap or even R&R need to make
sure dowel sleeves are in position, centering trans as illustrated in
video. Input shaft dragging on pilot bearing? Call for discussion. Gary

will wal says:

@perfectionclutch well i understand that after i got it out lol can i put
the clutch assembly on the flywheel and install it on the transmission then
install the transmission like a torque convertor on an automatic?

perfectionclutch says:

“With the removable bellhousing that bolts to the trans, how can we be sure
that is aligned properly?” I personally have not worked on a vehicle that
did not have some pin or sleeve alignment system. I think the biggest issue
that I tried to present is awareness of the alignment and how critical it
is. In the Dodge FSM they refer to offset pins (for gas engines) and it is
an old speed shop approach. Also newer trans do not have seperate housing.
Be aware of the alignment requirement. Gary

wbb55 says:

#4 on Ranger clutch video. You wrote S/C, shoulda been M/C.

will wal says:

@perfectionclutch oh i see i am replacing the clutch now new pilot bearing
resurfaced dual mass flywheel and i know not to use the bolts to suck it in
so to say thanks for replying back

perfectionclutch says:

@will79601 Part of it can (basic clutch procedures and importance of
alignment) but the ’05 6 spd was either the NV5600 or later in ’05 it is
the G56. Neither of them have seperate bellhousings. We have a 2004 Ram
with NV5600 video up and I’ll have the G56 video up soon. Big thing is to
inspect for the dowel sleeves and not damage them during trans R&R. Gary

zman4ish says:

if i read you wrong which i may have, and you have an automatic and you
want to do a manual swap for your 1500 5.9, then you could use an nv4500
you will just need a different bell housing to match up to your gas engine
(this will be very easy because in dodge 2500 trucks they used the nv4500
behind gas and diesel)

wessendorf15 says:

do you guys think you coucld make a video shot work on the 5.2 doge ram 4×4
with the nv 3500 tranny?

ralph postell says:

i have a 03 dodge ram 2500 changed the slave cylinder with the master and
slave kit pre bled but my buddy forgot to tighten the bolts on the slave
cylinder when i tried to shift it would not shift and then i noticed the
bolts loose on the slave cylinder so i re tightend the bolts but nothing i
pulled the slave out and the retaing tabs wore broke do you think i got air
in the system and if so how do i bleed it with out those tabs holding the
rod in after i bleed it

Marty Macdonald says:

Great video thanx

perfectionclutch says:

@will79601 Dual Mass Flywheel was used on G56 aluminum cased transmission.
We advise callers to remove the clutch as if you were removing an automatic
transmission, I know, it doesn’t make sense……. until you see how it
works. I hope the shop kept the grinding debris out of the inside of the
DMF. Make sure you torque the DMF to adaptor bolts, 45 Lb/ft. Gary

gates3522 says:

thanks Gary. i will try a couple of those scenarios then give you a call
during the work week,
