Dodge RAM 1500 Transmission Shifting Problem Caused by Defective Pressure/Overdrive Solenoid.

This video explains how to replace a defective Transmission Pressure/Overdrive Solenoid Assembly on 1992 to 1995 Dodge RAM Pick-up Trucks.

To be able to remove this Solenoid Assembly it is necessary to remove the Transmission Oil Pan and the Accumulator Housing.

This video is also useful for a person that wants to learn how to replace the Automatic Transmission Filter on Dodge RAM Trucks.

The Truck used during this video is a 1995 Dodge RAM 1500 2wd Equipped with a 46RH Automatic Transmission and 5.9 L Engine also known as 360. ( 360 ci displacement) These steps also apply to Dodge RAM Trucks Equipped with a 42RH Automatic Transmission, and R and R steps for 47RH Automatic Transmission in case the Pressure Solenoid is defective.

My 01 Ram 1500 doesn’t shift up at 55-65mph and the rpms stay at 4000 and shows no codes. Do you think it’s the o/d actuator?

Fabien Rousselot says:

I want to do this operation myself but I am worried about that spring, you are not really showing how you put it back and it seems to be a sensitive part of the job. Could you elaborate a little? I heard sometimes the problem is just the spring that is broken or damaged. Where to find a new spring? THX

i have 1994 3500 Cummins 4×4 and the tranny takes a few minutes of shifting it back and forth between forward and reverse before it builds enough pressure to engage if it's been sitting for a day or two. Once it does it runs fine until it sits for a day then i have to repeat the process. Any idea why?

Hello I have a problem with my 5.9 1500 dodge. It revvs high before shifting to 2nd gear and it’s rough. I’ve changed the output speed sensor, the throttle sensor, and the govenor pressure sensor and solenoid. But I didn’t change out this part. Is my transmission shot? Or do I have more life.? Thank you

Amazing camera work, perfect tutorial, and extremely helpful! This is exactly the same as what I'm seeing on my 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L V8.

Does this solenoid have any affect on the tack working or what makes the tack work on this model of ram? I thought it would be through the cam position sensor but it didn’t change after replacing..maybe it’s in the instrument panel …
