Frankie DaFixer says:

@Bread194 spring towards the block!

Dana Allen says:

I could not agree more with jacobg1777. I am trying to change this thing
out. Being a woman and never tried to do this on a Dodge, I am having a
fit. I have changed them on other makes of cars and not had a problem!
Crappy design. My only hope is that my son will be able to get to it when
he gets off work. I have tried everything I know to get to it to take off
the housing.

Dana Allen says:

thank you so much for posting this video. I would have never found where
the thermostat was without your video. Still can’t get to it to change it,
but I know where to start the fight now. Thank you again.

dennis peck says:

Great Video; Would have been excellent if you mentioned which direction the
thermostat was installed 🙂 thanks.

Norman Alvarez Siles says:

Hi, i have the same problem with thermostat in a dodge durango 2003, i
bought one new like yours, but i want to know how to test if the thermostat
open and close? the thermostat is 195ªF thanx a lot…

marriedfreaks28 says:

good video you helped me out alot now off 2 fix it thx !!!!

tomcatdcn says:

@Whereamiable not for the v6 5.2 and 5.9

Edkon Entertainment says:

thanks for taking your time for posting the video. i could not find it with
your video. thumbs down for those dislike your video.

Steve Smith says:

Seems to be a higher price on the 4.7 motor then 5.9 or 5.2 motor

Joe Tabrett says:

is the thermostat in the same place in the 2000 version of the Durango??

carlmorones says:

@ lanpenn: Good point. This was only to focus on the mechanical portion of
the install. I should have verified the coolant before showing what I was
using. Thank you.

lenpenn says:

I think you added the wrong type of coolant! Shouldn’t it be red
(Chrysler’s HOAT mixture)?

Bill Gates says:

Yeah I am working on one right now and it’s a fucking bitch!! I am about to
flip the fuck out cause it is in a horrible location! Bullshit!!

TheFlexonem says:

good video only thing is didnt open the valve to let the air out so no your
next promblem is blown head gasket, you want to make sure u bleed all the
air out untill antifreeze start spitting out of the valve then tighten it
back down.

abemotorsports says:

is it the silicone sealant necessary in being applied to the thermostat
housing in this model or 3.7L Powertechs which are similar but V6?

philthy bass says:

It goes in facing the same way your old one was. LOL

MissRedrum78 says:

You opened the system. You allowed air into the system. That little allen
head shaped screw in front of the filler cap is where you bleed it. It is
the ONLY place you can properly bleed the system. Ait pockets can kill your
vehicle. Otherwise nice video.

MOAONAABE says:

do you reccomend drainig the radiator, it didn’t seem like the was that
much coolant that came out. i am doing the job on a ran1500 pickup, same
part, but 180* not 190*

olddog58vette says:

Thanks! Doing this now!!!

Sam Flores says:

My 2005 dodge ram 1500 has the thermastat in the same location.

alejandro olmedo says:

my question is did you change the thermostat..becuase you truck was
leaking.??

lenpenn says:

@carlmorones: I just encountered a leak in my system at the electric
auxiliary water pump, which took me for ever to identify that part. Its an
additional water pump for the rear heat. Found it on Ebay (Steve White
Motors). I appreciate your video as I am going to change thermostat and
flush the system when installing new pump. Ill attempt to post a video on
its install. We need more Dodge videos.

D Murphy says:

Very very helpful. This is a pain….but, it’s on a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500.
4.7. I assume no gasket is needed.

robert boydston says:

I’m going to assume you’ve never changed a thermostat before….it says
“top” right on the part. Meaning that side faces away from the block

curtissparker says:

thanks man for showing me how to do it but i ended up cracking the houseing
on the replacement =/

marlonoreilly says:

Thanks for the video man. Mine has been over heating and I just blew a rad
hose right where the cap is some bought a thermostat anyway and didn’t
realize it was so easy. I would have started taking everything apart from
the top rad hose. Thank god I searched and found your vid. Whew! My heating
controls are totally screwed up too. Anyone know why??

David Barnett says:

What genius decided to put a thermostat in such a STUPID position. And yes
I have a ’03 5.9L.

Kcjacoby says:

What do you mean? The silver cover is actually a vent?
