Hey robinsonsauto, do you have a part # or anything for it? I called local
parts stores and they can’t find one and I called the Dodge dealership and
they are telling me I would have to replace the alternator to get a new
decoupler pulley. I have a 2010 Dodge Avenger SXT 2.4 L. Any help is
appreciated and great video by the way. Thanks.

Nick Ramirez says:

Thank you so much for sharing this information. You’ve saved me at least
$900 at the dealership. How do you work on cars without cussing? I
can’t… :-)

Dan Romcebo says:

thanks for your video it help me a lot, I just finish fixing my dodge
caliber 2007, it took me like 7 hours but i did it, thanks again I am so
happy with my car fix!

Nicholas Gleicher says:

Sounds exactly like the problem my son is having with his 2007 Dodge
Caliber!

maleekdawg1 says:

Imran Khan says:

Thankx alot for this vdo

Juan Gonzalez says:

Awesome video! This is exactly what my wife’s 2008n caliber sounds like!!
I’m looking forward to talking this problem but I have a question. If I
don’t have an impact wrench will I still be able to thread the decoupler
pulley onto the alternator?? If that is a huge issue I might have to fork
out some cash! Please respond and thanks for the help

EpicRegret says:

THANK YOU!!!! My Avenger just started making the exact same noise, and your
video has helped me sooo much!

robinsonsauto says:

Thank you, Seems crazy right? they don’t seem to last like they used to

zx10rpower says:

Hey robinsonsauto, a quick suggestion. Maybe you should redo the title to
include the jeep patriot/ compass to help others when they are searching
for this exact video. Like I said in my earlier post, the patriot, compass,
and I believe a van share the same exact engin. Just a thought. I can’t say
it enough, great job once again!!

rusco321 says:

The pulley cannot be swapped out without removing the alternator?

mcnchr says:

How about the shim washer you left on the work bench, should that have been
installed with the new pulley?

Darren McNew says:

Bill, thanks for the amazing video. I was actually able to borrow the auto
stethescope tool and pin-pointed to my alternator, 08 Avenger!!! My
question, would it be wise to also replace the idler pulleys (upper, lower,
tensioner), while doing the alternator pulley? It’s around $40 more for the
other 3 pulleys, I just don’t know if it is worth the time and money to
change them out. Will these wear eventually too? Don’t want to tear apart
again in another 20k miles for an idler?? Thanks!!

ballershanelle says:

My friend told me that he takes his starter/alts to a place and its
cheaper, im thinking quality?

mays9185 says:

Thanks for the video made my job easier to change the alternator in 35
minutes

robinsonsauto says:

Thank you, once i presented the option the customer gave me a double take..
you can do that lol yea Save$ when you can especially in these times

robinsonsauto says:

your welcome

robinsonsauto says:

Your welcome, thanks for the compliment and feednack

Stephen Greenaway says:

Great video, it’s perfect for what I’m about to do with my Compass. I’m
considering using a corded electric impact wrench – do you think this will
produce enough torque to tighten the pulley down?

robinsonsauto says:

Thank you for the compliment, i sure can. Thanks again for the feedback
means a lot

attackbike says:

Thank you so much for this video. This shows me how to change my alternator
on my Dodge Caliber 2007. I purchased my Caliber in 2006 and ran across 4
other Calibers in my area that had the same problem with their alternators.
I swear to God, I would like to punch whoever Dodge put in charge of
designing this contraption. Punch him right in his face. Excellent video.
Thanks a ton.

Dohn Joe says:

Will, you didn’t put back that gasket/shim/washer before installing the
pulley. Tell us about it.

Steve Rob says:

Fantastic, camera work and editing is top notch as well. I did notice you
using a cordless impact ratchet, thinking of getting the Milwaukee M12. If
you happen to use it again in a vid let us know how you like it.

panon1000 says:

@robinsonauto.luv video. If I get an alt. rebuilt or built with higher

PapaJoe Goodwin says:

I was unemployed and paying to have the alternator replaced was not
financially feasible. Because I had more time than money, these
instructions enabled me to replace the alternator in our car for just the
cost of the part. Thank you very much for the great tutorial.

Merv Lozinski says:

Excellent vid! My girlfriends ’07 Caliber is making the same noise and I’ve
been trying to find out how to get the alternator out for the past few
weeks. Now I have a general idea! Thanks!
