Awesome and easy. What a GREAT idea to create this video. Real convenient
and my 11 yr old son saw his dad fix his own car. Made me look competent!

1A Auto Parts says:

We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows that particular
repair. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

how do you replace an ignition switch on a 2004 Chrystler Pacifica?

1A Auto Parts says:

You would need to get the key to turn forward on order to remove the
ignition. You could try to jiggle the key up and down as you try to turn it
forward. Sometimes that will help. You could also try a little WD-40 in it
to see if that helps to free it up so that you can remove it. 1aauto.com

2004 PT – only one key with it which comes out of ignition at all
positions. Just have to be careful that ignition is in off position when
cutting off so as not to drain battery. Looks simple enough to replace
ignition and no problem using new ignition key. Can use old key for doors.
Never had electronic key but when I asked dealer, they wanted big bucks to
re-code new key. Do you think I will have issues with the car starting and
running?

G Larson says:

Hi – My key will not turn to the “RUN” position as it shows in the Haynes
manual. So I need to somehow by pass this step and still pop it out. I do
not even have the cash until I am able to drive over weekend to replace,
but am hoping to pop it out anyways….do you know of a workaround when the
key won’t turn ???? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

eline65 says:

Sadly, this doesn’t work on a 2006 PT. There is no access hole under the
ignition assy. 🙁

This video was really helpful! If I buy a new Ignition Lock Cylinder for my
2002 Neon from you, will it include those tumblers or do I have to get them
separately?

cause they are sentry keys

This video shows you how to key your new tumbler so that you can use your
old key.

kneenong999 says:

is it the same on mazda mx3 v6? ingnition lock is hard to turn, it gets
stock…

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to check to see if the vehicle’s getting spark and gas.

jw200 says:

Yep, i have talked with some of them and from what i heard, it’s better to
make new keys from existing locks. They can do that, if the door and trunk
locks are working correctly. It’s not very cheap but it’s better than one
day just trying to enter the car and see that battery is dead. I have
watched some videos here on YT and some recommended to lubricate the door
lock cylinders a lot, first with WD40 and then with some grease. I don’t
know, maybe my ignition key will fit and opens the doors.

1A Auto Parts says:

@latissimus123 You may want to double check your connections. It should
install back into place just like the stock one does.

larrypingston says:

On my PT cruiser, the steering wheel turns freely but the key will not
budge. Is this tumbler related and can i change it out without the key
turned to the run position?

Mike Ky says:

You have great videos and Thank you so much for the service you provide:)

1A Auto Parts says:

The procedure to remove it on your application may be different.

1A Auto Parts says:

Not to my knowledge. You may want to ask a locksmith to see what they
recommend.

TheSunflowerStation says:

This video saved me $150.00 – thank you so much!

Anton Dietzen says:

I replaced the ignition cyclinder (which was a cinch thanks to the video!)
but then the little red light on the dash would flash, the car started and
died and then wouldn’t start at all (lights, radio all work but wouldn’t
turn over and lights didn’t dim when key cranked) I put the old cylinder
back in and it started right up. Tried again and same thing, any ideas?
Thanks!

1A Auto Parts says:

@larrypingston In order to remove the ignition cylinder you would need to
be able turn the key in order to take the lgnition cylinder out.

Stephanie Adams says:

Changed mine and it started, after 20 seconds it died did it three times
now it wont turn over at all everything else works what could cause that

1A Auto Parts says:

@1234ihatethisplace You will need the key code from Chrysler. You can then
get the order of the tumblers.
