You guys ROCK – you saved my family a bundle, and I was able to borrow some tools from the neighbor making this a very inexpensive repair relatively speaking….found out the our local Tires Plus, Expert Tire AND Firestone are ALL owned by the same company, and barring a coupon deal, each charged different prices, but all with a shop labor rate of nearly $100/HOUR !! KEEP UP THE AWESOME VIDS PLEASE !!

Thank You for help

Thank you for providing the video’s. You put a lot of effort into making a classy production.

The issue might be with the control arm bushings. Normally sway bar links don’t go bad that quickly but it would at least worth a look over once again.

lifewithken says:

I had pepboyrs replace the sway bar frame bushings.. now I have the creaking again a few months later just alot more and louder… is this the same part? as a sway bar frame bushing kit? the part they used was a FA7550

i have a 2005 saturn ion.will this removal and application be the same?

1aauto says:

We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular repair. We’ll keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future.

MrBill Ference says:

Great Video. How about doing lower ball joints and rack & pinion?

1aauto says:

Yes you should replace them as a pair.

littletoy01 says:

I have a Dakota and my rear endlink is shot on the drivers side do you think I should replace both of them at the same time. so they wear the same. .

If the sway bar link bolt fell off, you should be able to put a new one back on in its place. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

terryliciareed says:

The bolt on the drivers side is just flat GONE .. missing! Happened 3 days ago. Started making a weird noise, thought it was time for brake pads or ?? Got out and saw the missing bolt and was like . what?! All else is there … SO .. can I just put a new bolt in? The rest of everything is there, just a’hanging!

Curtis Weeks says:

Thanks for your reply. I will go and have them check everything.

rocky5554 says:

Great Video ive done this job so many times but why don’t car manufacturers put on a hexagon end that you could put a spanner to instead of a silly Allen key hole that rounds off that would make this job so much easier

1aauto says:

You may want to check the front axles and also the ball joints to see if they’re worn.

Curtis Weeks says:

Hello. Just had these replaced and there is still a noise. Seems to happen more while turning the wheel. (backing out of driveway with wheel turned). As soon as I hit the transition from driveway to pavement I hear it. Seems worse than before. Any ideas as to what else it could be? I hate throwing money at a problem only to find out that the wrong thing got fixed.
Thanks

True even a properly maintain hydraulic jack can fail at any moment. I didn’t use a jack stand at all, because I use the hydraulic jack just to lift the body frame a tiny bit and not much.

1aauto says:

It’s always a good idea to support the weight of the vehicle with a jackstand as a hydraulic jack may fail.

kevykev38 says:

Rusty bolts are easy to take care of with an air die grinder cut off wheel

kevykev38 says:

Just replaced links and struts along with sway bar rubber mounts. Thing rides like a caddy now. Bought the van for fifty bucks 99 caravan. I’m going right through it.

Dereck Skidmore says:

Great you guys are awsome

MileyCyrus192 says:

I replace my sway bar link and bushing on my 1999 GMC Envoy with just a hydraulic jack and no jack stand at all. They are so easily to replace you don’t even need to take off the tire at all. Some vehicle you could or not take the tire off or whatever is easier. Every vehicle is different and I did not use penetration liquid to loosen up my bolts just a long extension tube over the ratchet.

1aauto says:

Usually you can lift it using the frame of the vehicle. Always place a jackstand under the frame, never trust a hydraulic jack as they could give way. PB Blaster is pretty good stuff at freeing loose bolts.

MrsBarni says:

I will certainly head straight to your videos for anything else I might need assistance with and direct my friends to your videos! I do not have a lift to put my van on so i will have to jack the van up. Where would be the best place to use a jack to jack my 1996 Grand Caravan? And what spray were you using when you spray the bolts? My van is a 1996…I love this van and just want to attempt to keep her “Purple Thunder: rolling along as long as I can.

1aauto says:

You’re welcome. Have a great day!…1aauto.com

MrsBarni says:

Thank you, your video was very helpful. Simple, straight to the point and easy to understand 🙂

1aauto says:

You should get it fixed. The sway bar link helps to keep the vehicle stable through the corners.

wblake22 says:

is my van dangerous to drive dont know how long its been this way, but I looked under my van yesterday and seen my sway bar broke away from the lower control arm

1aauto says:

We’ll keep this in mind during any future repairs that we happen to make on this type of vehicle.

Begbucks says:

Good video; Now why not make a video on lower ball doing removal on a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan with the 3.3 FWD chassis? Or any one that is a suitable subject.

1aauto says:

It should from the factory.

LMLFE says:

hey, does a 1994 dodge grand caravan 3.3l v6 front wheel drive have a rear sway bar? ive gone onto alldata and it shows that there is but my van has nothing no mounting brackets no links or anything. help plz.

1aauto says:

If you think that this is the cause of the vehicle not shifting properly you may want to have a transmission shop, set the throttle valve lever for you, so that it shifts properly. Hope this helps you out.

eduardo villarreal says:

i dont speek english very well…SO!!! mi caravan 96 dosent shift at the right time…..normaly shift to 20mph..now 35 to40…theres a “rail” that gos from the “acelerator ” to the transmicion…i think it has someting to do about it…do you now why??? please ansewr me..!!!

1aauto says:

If the sway bar broke you may want to replace it with a new one. The sway bar links should install exactly like the video shows. You should also replace both sides if they are worn. Hope this helps you out.

johnnyschmuckatelli says:

I had to replace a stabilizer link on the passenger side of my van. I had to use a sawsall. The sway bar ended up breaking off at the connection!!! damn.. I had a guy weld it to fix it. After i got it all put on there was even more noise! While the van is sitting i reached under and was able to rattle the stabilizer links on both sides!! what did i do wrong?? please help

1aauto says:

It shouldn’t be to hard to do. You would need to unbolt everything connected to it and remove the steering fluid lines.

1BmxChannel says:

Doing the bushings wasn’t hard. How hard is to replace the steering rack?

1aauto says:

They shouldn’t be. You can also spray penatrating oil on them, this should help out.
