@hondaslave Exhaust stroke you will not feel any pressure on your hand as
the air can escape through the exhaust valve(s). Compression stroke you
will feel pressure on your hand. When you know you have TDC after #1
compression stroke, and then line up the cam timing marks.

So, to avoid having that tooth be off by one, would rotating the cam
sproket a 1/2 to 1 tooth past the 2nd dot help? since installing the
tensionor probably caused the cam sproket on the left to rotate back a tic.
I would line the marks up according the the stock specs.
has the chrysler new yorker (1997 3.5l) a different waterpump? cause in the
shop, there is a 3 bolt waterpump. but the lhs has the 6 bolt pump in the
kit?
This video saved my soul…I thought I really screwed things up with my
car…tried looking everywhere on the internet. You guys are the best. I
will def. tell my guys are you all.
The water pump is different between the two. The mount flange is different
as well as the bolts holding it in place.
The easiest way to do this is to let the car warm up with the heat blasting
and the radiator cap off. When the air pockets work their way out of the
system you can top it off with more antifreeze until the fluid level stays
up.

Hi, I’m in the UK….. I have just brought a 1994 Chrysler eagle vision,
which is also a 3.5L V6 Auto, which I’m sure is the same engine, as in your
video. I’m just waiting on delivery, as the car is coming down from
Scotland. Changing the timing belt is a job i’d like to do on the car, as
the last owner isn’t sure when it was done, as it was imported over here
back in 2001. if all above is right, I will follow this on when doing the
belt, and change the water pump at the same time. thanks
I’m looking at that and thinking it would almost be easier, though more
involving to remove the entire front grille/bumper/rad assy. like you do
with an Audi A6/A8. What do you think?

hey mike thank you for you video but i have a question i have 99 dodge
intrepid 3.2L and i think the engine looks almost the same as this one that
you have in this video do you think is the same timing belt system as
intrepid 99 3.2L

Is it the same thing for a 1997 LHS 3.5L ? I am wondering.
I’m disabled on SSA and money is tight these days so I have too work on my
1998 Durango 5.2 myself ! Now I’m looking for parts I can afford lol! The
timing case cover is expensive and the timing chain is shot out and the
damper came part so now I gotta have a harmonic balancer wish me luck !!!

@003Mexicano It will not matter if your car is an interference engine as
long as you are REPLACING the belt. There is only a problem if you break
your belt. Check out my videos on replacing a belt on a Toyota Tundra, that
is an interference engine. You will see that the basic steps of changing

timing belt and water pump, but since this intrepid isnt a interference
engine, do you think my car is an interference engine?
you say if the belt was to break and i have to retime,,,i put a hand over
#1 until it blows,,,but would it not also do that on the exaust
stroke?…..so bascially set up the cams bettween the dots, and the crank
at tdc on #1 compression right?,,,,,
For all of that labor including the intake, it sounds about right. $45.00
is very reasonable. Most places out this way are charging $70.00-$90.00/Hr.

all engines have the points marked on the gears shown in the video to put
an engine in time?
how long is the process? my mechanic wants to charge me 45dollars an hr to
change my water pump timing belt and my intake gaskets for this exact model
car not including parts. he says it will be a 6 hr job. please help is this
correct?
@1aauto I just bought the 3.5l Lhs 1997. It is the same thing! I am glad
that it is in the front of the car, it is easier for me that way. One
question : I do believe you need the 2 cam sprocket to be between the dots
when you are doen? is this correct? and also the 1st time how did you
skipped 1 tooth?
the kits we provide include the gasket as well. There really should be
minimal gasket sealer if any used when installing a water pump.

most instructions call for using a sealant on the water pump gasket, why
didnt you use a sealant?
