briansmobile1 says:

@wonkavella you sir are correct! I’m sorry I typo’ed. I’ll fix that. It’s a
fuel pump video.

briansmobile1 says:

@arrowmanjr Yes very close.

pawnxpert says:

thank you…. appreciative of the reference on 10mm… i got it off but
took a min to find correct size… it helped a whole heap man!… thanks
again

briansmobile1 says:

@westsidehouston1 I usually charge about a Benjamin or so for labor.

briansmobile1 says:

@95HondaCivicSiii Test fuel pressure. It should be around 50-55 psi. Also
check injector pulse while cranking.

2129040 says:

Thanks Brian – I’m pretty sure I’ll be replacing the fuel pump on my 97
Dodge Caravan soon and your video is helpful in illustrating what I will
face. Tom

thirdeyemission says:

thanks a bunch, ” pickle jar cap” i love it 🙂

gyrofix says:

Is there a special tool to remove the fuel line connections?

briansmobile1 says:

When the Airtex ones fail the pump runs (comes on), but no fuel comes out.
It just loops back into the tank due to the defective pressure valve inside
the sending unit.

briansmobile1 says:

Lift and support the pass side of the van. Loosen the tank strap bolts.
Disconnect the three quick disconnect lines. Pull the 10mm bolt. Remove old
filter. Assembly is reverse of tear down.

briansmobile1 says:

@gyrofix Yes. It’s called a “quick disconnect” tool. You can find them most
anywhere. On some models you don’t need it.

rock962000 says:

@briansmobile1 Hey, Thank you very much for the reply. I just tried
spraying starting fluid right now and no start. How do I check to see if
it’s getting spark?

GoogleGlass says:

actually a better way to check the fuel pump is to take the top off the
black relay and watch the relay, if it activates and stays activated the
pump is most likely is good, if the relay activates and deactivates right
away the pump motor is drawing to much current The pump most likely is
plunged or the little motor bad, has anyone ever taken apart to clean it,
the little motor should actually last longer then a human, a after market
pump cost about 250, and is not as robust as the original

briansmobile1 says:

@editboy23 Ha ha! Comments like this is why I do these videos! Thanks for
the feedback. Now I know my boy scout deed for the day was done. ; )

briansmobile1 says:

I love you man.

briansmobile1 says:

@thirdeyemission You’re welcome- great to hear from you! Take care.

temoari says:

ok thxs very much for the info your champ much apperciate mate

Thomas Edwards says:

Brian Your instruction video’s are great. However your lighting is not so
good . If you need lighting and light tri-pods let me know I have some
tri-pod lighting stands from 12 inches and up.

briansmobile1 says:

You’re welcome!

briansmobile1 says:

@CooperWilliams83 I had a tough one the other day too. I used my
ridiculously HUGE pipe wrench on it. 4′ long.

briansmobile1 says:

@macariobelmontes While it’s hot and not running check for spark. (I have a
vid on how to do that on my channel.) If it doesn’t have spark, it’s LIKELY
the PCM. They like to die on those.

50Happygolucky says:

Do you have a video showing me how to replace my fuel filter on my 1997
dodge caravan? The process from beginning to the end?

bestmastermind951 says:

i replaced this fuel pump 3 years ago with a airtex and it hasn’t given out
on me but how the fuel filter from autozone fits the nipple at the fuel
line but occasionally it keeps snapping off by itself causing the van to
die on the road sometimes. what could be the problem the fuel filter having
cheap locking tabs or the nipple locking tab to the fuel line that goes to
the fuel rail is bad?

briansmobile1 says:

@coldpak82 YES. It could be. I would recommend getting it on a scan tool so
you can see the Crank signal. A quick and dirty way to test is to do this
test at 1:00.

forgotmylogininfo says:

Could you use your compressed air & the evap lines to drain the tank like
you showed filling a transfer case? Not sure if there are any check valves
in the lines or not. Curious to see how to put the tank back in full of
fuel.

temoari says:

hi mate thxs for the response the 1 ive got is a fuelmiser?it turn,s on but
there,s know fuel comming out of it?

briansmobile1 says:

slide the red tab toward the fat side of the red tab HARD. Then squeeze the
release and it will come off.

clearton says:

Can i use this for 2005 town and country

briansmobile1 says:

If it’s a Airtex that’s the problem they had SEVERAL that were defective on
the feedback valve inside the sending unit. Get a different brand. (Other
Airtex pumps are great, just this application got BOTCHED!)

westsidehouston1 says:

Great video, my 98 dodge caravan died today, now I have a project for the
weekend. Does anyone have an idea how much a mechanic would charge for
doing this work? I’m going to watch your video several more times before I
get started, thanks!

briansmobile1 says:

depends on you, and if you can lift the right side of the van up. It’s
pretty easy to me.

briansmobile1 says:

You’re welcome ; )

briansmobile1 says:

If it’s an Airtex fuel pump return it! THEY SUCK for this application. The
pressure return valves inside the sending unit are faulty from the factory.
Get a Carter brand. I know two years ago AIRTEX was ok. The new ones are
useless. I tried three of them last week on this exact same van before
filing a labor/warranty claim with the vendor. A carter pump requires some
priming by cycling the ignition (not cranking) so the pump comes on for a
second or two with a burst of pressure. 7-8 times
