Great video on how to get to the rear plugs on a 2.7L Sebring. Drop the
engine, bull$hit. Thanks for the info.
something about a man who can fix on his own car……..it’s sexi!
I did a Google search “how to change spark plugs on chrysler sebring 2.7”,
and found a perfect tutorial on Justanswers on how to properly remove rear
plugs on a 2.7. You actually have to lower the engine and trans. 2 Bolts on
rear, behind air box. You have to remove airbox to access, make sure to
support engine with a jack, this give you the clearance to access plugs and
remove coils without damage.
OK did it, so to remove airbox, one 8mm nut on top, pulls out, sits on 3
rubber studs. There are actually 3 bolts on the Trans mount you need to
loosen, make sure to use a jack. No. 6 plug is the worst, had to remove 2
black plastic tabs holding insulation, was able to fold it back to remove
coil. Plugs 4 and 2 were easier, did the same thing folding back the
insulation to get the coils out. Do one coil at a time, make sure to
disconnect each coils electrical connector first. Took about 40 min.
I have a 2006, the coils are solid, if you try and bend them they will
break.
what year and sub model is the sebring you’re working on?
Each coil uses a 10 mm bolt to hold it, had to remove these first to get
access to each coil’s electrical connector. Car has 135,000 kms
(80,000miles) on it and plugs were shot, replaced them with Bosch Iridium
4+ plugs best ones out there, was able to get them online for about $5.90
each. Probably will never have to do this job again. Car runs great now,
lots of power, we see if the gas mileage is better.
