I have a 03 and you just take the passenger side tire off and open up the
wheel well. Its not fun but you can take it out that way also. There is
trap doors in the wheel well you can pop out.
I never had to take that much out on my 01 PT to get to the power steering
pump. Remove grill, tilt radiator back, remove upper intake if like and use
extensions to get to the power steering bracket. Radiator,water pump,
&thermostat stay installed in car.

Never mind my post the guy that had the car before me made the trap doors
in the fender well.
