Chrysler Pacifica Auxiliary Battery Replacement | Start/Stop Fix

Chrysler Pacifica Auxiliary Battery Replacement | Start/Stop Fix

In this video I’ll be replacing the auxiliary battery in a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The van recently experienced a no-start due to the battery being almost fully drained, and the auto start/stop feature hasn’t worked for several month. The aux battery has a history of causing issues with the auto start/stop feature, and the van is about 5 years old, so it makes sense to replace the aux battery.

Hey! How to you all feel about the auto start/stop feature on newer cars. I hate it, but luckily the Pacifica has a button on the dash to turn it off.

Great video
Thank you

So did you get the main battery tested or did you just jumpstart it and it was fine? I know you had a charger on it later in the video but my concern is my main battery will be bad too? The van has the error code for a couple of weeks and then this morning just wouldn’t start.So I’m gonna replace the auxiliary battery but I’m afraid I might have to replace both. I don’t know?

I was watching unbox therapy a while ago and i wondered why it recommended your channel to me until I saw your face. hahaha. The algorithm thought you and Lewis were the same person.

Thanks for this informative video, was going to use this if I had to replace the auxiliary battery in my 2017 Pacifica, I had the shop replace it once back in May. The light came again just a few weeks ago, I’m assuming it’s the battery again so I’m having the dealership warranty the battery out. I was going to use this video in case they tried to charge me to change the battery I was going to do it myself. Will save this video for future reference. Has the light came back one since you replaced your auxiliary battery?

Excellent and accurate video, easily followed taking about 15 minutes. Start/stop light and alert message is gone. Many thanks!

This video really helped me to change my auxiliary battery that was preventing our Pacifica from starting and shifting from park! After replacing the auxiliary battery, I began wondering if I should replace the main battery as well. Anyone have any insight on this?

Question I have a service shifter issue on a 2019 pacifica and the dealership determines it's the auxiliary battery is this true

The video is very helpful. My kids left a door open and drained the battery. We had replaced the aux battery about 18 months ago and the van is starting fine. However, the start /stop feature stopped working and we have the error message. Can I simply put a battery charger on the aux battery rather than replacing it? My wife's van is a 2019 pacifica-Thank you!

Great video, very well explained ! I really enjoyed watching it!!!… will do the change today!!! cheers from Monterrey, Mexico!!

@JamesAgans says:

Why in Gods name would you allow your wife to own a Chrysler product?

@squeakD says:

This has become a well known problem with the Pacifica, and Chrysler has no fix for it. The aux battery failure associated with the start stop feature will eventually become an annual replacement of that battery. We had the same issue with ours last summer, replaced the aux and main battery. On the 4th of July (same month last year too) our Pacifica completely shut down at an intersection. We once again have the yellow warning light on the dash indicating start stop failure. We bought ours new in 2018, and it only has 50,000 miles on it. Even with lower mileage it’s developing numerous other electrical issues reported by other owners. Apparently the Pacifica’s are notorious for electrical problems that all seem to drain either the main battery or aux.., and both batteries with the start stop failure.

This video continues to be a great resource. Saw it the first time today, and replaced my wife's aux battery when car wouldn't start (new main battery) in the Target parking lot. We have AAA but I'm pretty sure their battery service doesn't cover these auxiliary batteries. Dropped by Autozone and picked one up, ran over with my sockets, and had it changed out in about 15 minutes. Thanks again @torquewagon!

@ascoolasyou67 says:

If we don't care for the start/stop, can we just remove the aux battery?

@nameless4917 says:

Used this to change my wife’s van’s aux battery. Thank you!

@jaimebojado859 says:

Would this also cause the AC not to turn on? Everything was working fine until the start/stop light came on!!

@ClauCalifornia says:

I replaced my auxiliary battery and my light didn’t go off and the function is still not working!
