Take a look @ 2:36 The little red “tab” slides out releasing the connector.
It did take some careful “wiggling” but eventually comes free. Be sure and
clean very thoroughly with a good blast of some electrical cleaner or maybe
a blast of air.

Yep – I picked up the special “oil switch socket” when I bought the oil
switch and got it in last night in about an hour (figuring out how to get
the dumb wiring harness off took up most of that time) and it worked like a
champ. Thanks again!
This sounds much more serious than just the sensor. Our van ran fine, just
an intermittent light. ALWAYS check the oil levels if the “oil” light comes
on. Running a vehicle extremely low on oil could cause VERY SERIOUS

Exactly, They, the auto parts stores, actually sell a “specialty” socket
just for the sensor. iirc, it was about $5.00 U.S. It is a fairly common
problem I discovered for Daimler vans. Good Luck and Thank You for the good

Thank you for posting this – very helpful. My van is doing the same thing
and I’m pretty confident this is the problem. I’ll be putting in the new
sensor today. As a general practice, I always try to spend 10 minutes
learning how to do something before I go do it, simple though it may be.
Learning from someone else always saves time and dumb mistakes – like
knowing I need to pickup that 1 and 1/16″ deep socket! π Thank you again!

Could this fix a Chrysler Sebring when the oil light is coming on only when
stopped and idling? Whenever I press the gas it turns off. I recently had a
tune up and valve cover gaskets replaced.
I am going to say yes. This was almost exactly what was happening with the

do you have to drain the oil out ?
could that cause the tranny not too shift properly if overheats?
I am not positive but my initial response is NO. This oil pressure switch
is not related to the transmission in any way I know of.
DIDNT THINK SO, SOMEONE WAS TRYING TO TELL ME IT WAS. I TOOK OUT THE BRAND
NEW THERMOSTAT I JUST BOUGHT AND NOW THE TRANNY DOESNT GET HOT. WEIRD?
