Yes, totally worked for the idle issue, but later we had a bigger problem and ended up calling it quits with that suburban.
I changed my 4L80e tranny connector to fix the tranny issues (common problem on older models, I have a ’93- it was in Limp mode only 2nd gear), not until I disconnected the battery did the computer reboot. Worked great for a while but now it won’t go into overdrive, I’m suspecting TPS – also has had a very low idle since I’ve had it…)
yep gm vehicles seemed to have a lot of this same problem back in the 1990’s
try the temp sensor on the intake by the thermostat common problem when bad computer thinks motor is always cold!!!
How did it turn out, did you mange to fix your bogging/idling out issue?
I have a 95 Tahoe having some similar issues. I replaced the plugs, wires, dist cap & rotor, fuel filter, air filter, IAC, and MAP sensor.
Basically it will run just fine when it wants to. I thought it was fixed after I installed the MAP sensor as it ran very strong for about 45 minutes then it stalled while I was accelerating.
TPS is next. What symptoms did your truck have before the TPS change?
I am currently having the same problem in my 95 silverado. All you did was change the TPS or did you clean too?
when my TPS went in my 95 K1500, it would start and idle fine for about 15 seconds, and then it would scream to 1500rpms and you couldn’t shift it into gear. So youd have to shut it down, restart, and quickly put it in drive…from there it would rev to 1500 and would shift to second gear, and wind out like the trans was shot…then bam…shift to third…I knew exactly what it was, but it decided to do it at 9 at night when no parts stores were open…had to call into work and change it
Ok… I have a question or two. When you install the new TPS, is there any sort of finaggling or adjustment necessary?? Do you just disconeect the battery and reconnect?? I’m a bit lost. I have a 1991 C-1500 Cheyenne W/T with the 4.3L V-6, btw.
U r welcome!
Unfortunately all my problems came back. Sucks I thought this thing did the trick.
My 95 Tahoe had a rough idle and would sometimes rise above 1200 rpms in drive and also wouldn’t shirt into 3,4 and overdrive without almost flooring it. Just replaced the tps and rough idle is gone and transmission running smoother than I can remember. Was also able to remove mine with a simple Allen key without having to remove all that other crap, really appreciate this post.
I just had to change my TPS, I was getting terrible kicking into second and I couldn’t even get it into Overdrive. I changed the TPS and it fixed everything.
For mine it started just fine but when you would push on the gas to hard it would bog down, no black smoke either on mine.
did it sart only full throttle and have little black smoke coming out tail pipe thats problem im haveing and it stumbles when touching throttle somtimes stalls
Hmm, I never did that.
Sorry, I don’t have this Burban any longer.
do you have any more videos on this truck? mine seems to be doing similar things and i could really use the video assistance
This is a good instructional video but, after the installing the TPS on this application it is necessary to clear the adaptives (by disconnecting the battery) and performing the idle relearn procedure!
man u dont have to drop the tank just cut a hole in the bed and whwhen ur done just put the piece u kut out back and put a bed liner in it so dat if it messes up again easy access its what i did
good video…I had to replace mine on my 1992 k 1500 – easy fix
Thanks for calling out the socket sizes. Gonna take a stab at it myself this week.
Flip the lid on your air filter and see also what a diff. it makes.
I see you raplaced the EGR also?
Now I just need new front and rear bumpers a new grill and the AC fixed and it would be almost perfect (not).
