You can also use a ratchet without a socket to loosen the belt. I think it fits the half inch. But there is a little square on the front of the tensioner.
Wondering if anyone can help me ? I have an alternator from a 2010 6.0l vortec chevy 2500 and batt. I need a better power and charging system for my 01 tahoe 4.8 l due to large aftermarket sterio. My question is would the alternator / batt from the first truck work in the other one and vise versa (other than the post mount differences) ?
Thank you for posting the video ..
thank you, easy to understand

does the same method work for a 2005 silverado vortec? and if so which way should I push the tensioner?
