Cool thanks for writing in. I think you’re right about the seal/parts kit…. I guess you could say my maintenance habits are like that of a farmer …wait ’til it breaks…then suffer when i have to re-take apart that same part i just ‘fixed’. thanks again

Mr2pint says:

Entertaining video, the only thing is, the calliper you replaced it with, is more than likely in need of new seals and recondition. The seal kit you talked about would have saved you alot of time in the long run. Depends i guess how long you’re going to keep the truck – regardless, good video, good to see you giving it a go.

Thank you !

Thats funny that you picked up on that. Thanks for watching

nice job. Very thorough tutorial. Although I do like that you expected people to know how to jack up their truck and take their tires off but not how to pop the hood 😉

ALLThingsEastCoast says:

To be quite honest – im not sure either way. Nor do i know what the repair manual says about this. Very good question.

Great video! Thank you! One thing I was wondering, you never mentioned about deactivating the ABS and I have read that some people suggest doing that or facing possible damage. Is this really only an issue if the ignition is turned on during bleeding?

ALLThingsEastCoast says:

thank you, glad you thought it helped

ha very nice attention to detail video, you actually took your time to explain, i sure didn’t, i was too exhausted.

The bolts are on the inboard side. Hopefully it should be apparent when you look. As for the hydraulic hose, i’d see if i could cap it with some type of screw/nut, or some type of cap nut. Or just leave it and make sure you bleed it extra good when you put everything back together. Of course you should bleed it regardless, but just my two cents.

Thanks. Tomorrow I am taking my calipers off on my 1500 ss. Question. It will be 5 days until I get them back. What should I do with the break hose over 5 days for it not to leak fluid and let air into the system? Also,do you know where the other bolts to take off the caliper mounting bracket?
Thanks

ALLThingsEastCoast says:

Hey cool. Happy it helped you. Yeah i dont like to have to pay others to do something i can do.

That’s not being Cheap of you for wanting to change them on your own. Yes you save money but you Showed that you can do yourself and you don’t rely on other people to help you. And yes this video did help me!
