Junkyard or used truck.

ScottysDetailing says:

Remove gas tank!! It’s ten times easier.

BlkJ19 says:

This truck has never seen a winter. Can you tell me where I may find
replacement beds online?

john mills says:

Hey Scotty, why not just un-plug the tail light and tag lite harness
instead of removing the tail lights?

Ruckus Tjones says:

it looks a lot easier than droppin the tank. so I have to ask, when changin
the fuel pump is it easier to drop the tank or pull the bed off?

Keith Kelly says:

thanks Scotty- mt 77 dually had rusted bolts that went thru the top w/ nuts
on the bottom. looks like the improved the design, I like that the weather
did not seize the bed bolts.

patrickblair19 says:

This truck is so damn clean! I have to replace fuel line I’ve been under my
truck a few times I’m definatly goin to need to use a impact and possibly
some heat to remove the bed bolts, I’m hoping I can put a late 80’s bed on
my truck with no mods.

aestrada158 says:

Thats why I have a 1/2 in. 20 in long breaker bar and cheat pipe and my
legs to push off.

Justin Brantley says:

Did you need a power drill to remove the bed because I’ve tried doing this
By hand and I can’t get the bed off without destroying my wrench attachment

viper2029 says:

Thanks man im about to change a fuel pump myself this was extremely helpful

ScottysDetailing says:

Yes! You need a impact driver

RagingWhiteman says:

What about using a engine hoist/cherry picker? I want to switch beds on my
s10s. Would this work fine?

Donavon Casperson says:

same here in minnesota, blow torch the shit

rugsr says:

almost broke my back getting the bed off with one other person…after
seeing how easy it is using the hoist, im going out to buy one tomorrow thx

Joel Nielsen says:

I have an old ’72. I do not have an engine hoist. Do I need to cross brace
the bed before I take it out?

Raylan Givens says:

HE’S PAINTING THE BED! Paint on the tail lights wont look too good, now
will it?

ScottysDetailing says:

Funny there are no screws only bolts. The gas door and the tailights are
the only screws to look for. The bed uses 8 18mm bolts

will lewis says:

Excellent and very detailed helped me out alot thanks for posting

emr10151983 says:

I know this video is for a Chevy. But, would the concept be similar to an
older model dodge Dakota

ScottysDetailing says:

More weight towards the rear, due to tailgate.

Jordan Pisowicz says:

Hey great video. I was hoping to see in it where exactly the 2 spacers go
between the frame and bed but couldn’t and was wondering if you could tell
me which two of the eight bolts these spacers go with. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. thanks!

ScottysDetailing says:

The spacers go in the front to line up the bed to the cab. Just depends how
close the body line is.

TUSOffRoadRC says:

This is what I’m doing today on my ’95…. Doubt it’ll go quite so smoothly
LOL but thanks for the help. At least I know what tools I’ll need now

ScottysDetailing says:

No, the bed is very strong.

Niki McCulley says:

is it the same for a 1998 Silverado??? do you have to remove the back
bumper???

Crash171 says:

I am getting ready to replace my 1995 C-1500’s bed because of a deer… Do
you have any recommenced maintenance to the rear of the truck while the bed
is off?

Oscar Lopez says:

Is this the same process for my 1977 c10 truck or its more simple?! Thanks!

100InchHammer says:

I have a 95 F250. I sprayed the nuts underneath with Blaster but it looks
like it would be easier to grind off the heads inside the bed. I ground one
off and the bolt fell down about 2 inches. My question is…will the anti
turn part of the bolt (the oblong shape) go through the lower portion of
the bed channel or is that just a round hole?

jet62095 says:

Thanks for the help! I will be replacing the bed on my 00 silverado after
accident damage and this video just made me about 10x more confident to do
it myself.

Justin Whaley says:

thanks alot man, video was really helpful.i have to take mine off to change
my fuel pump): hah

ScottysDetailing says:

not sure, 🙁 my need the specs.

k1kenzi says:

Very nice, simple, clear and calm. Not like other guys all we hear is the
loud radio, and a short unrelated pic. Very good.

guz04087 says:

very good i just ordered a chain hoist on ebay over the weekend doing the
same with my 78 everything is unbolted 8 3/4″ one harness connector for the
tail lights two tank filler necks one ground strap !! thanks for the idea!!

mrMACKism says:

can a rear panel from a pick up be removed only instead of the whole box?

KingFernie7 says:

great vid thank you!

Geoff Hernandez says:

It’s better to remove the bed of Truck if u r planning to replace fuel pump
rather than lowering tank.

6765BMC says:

Vid was great. He described where the bolts were located. You may have to
actually think for yourself a little…..perish the thought…..Good vid
man.

ScottysDetailing says:

Glad to help!

Steve Hanson says:

Great Video! Thanks for the info

orangecheesekj says:

great job thanks for the info

ScottysDetailing says:

I’m mean torch! sorry dam iPhone.

STBRetired1 says:

FINALLY – a video that actually tells you what needs to be done and then
shows you. VERY WELL DONE. My only problem is that I have an old U-Haul
truck and want to remove the enclosed box from that. I haven’t figured out
how to lift that size box off the frame. Maybe the Lord will give me an
inspiration sometime soon.

ScottysDetailing says:

We don’t have a video on removing the cab, but there is only 4 bolts you
can see them from under the cab two in the front side of the frame and two
in the rear of the cab. Hope that helps!

kzapped says:

Are all 8 bolts 18 mm? I need to replace my fuel pump and since i have a
1/2 tank of gas right now, dont feel like messing with dropping the
tank…Did that on a 1990 Z71that was a Michigan truck and with the skid
plates and everything else..was a MAJOR pain….Now i have a 1997 short bed
step side from VIRGINIA and very clean…thinking bed bolts wont be too
corroded..Whats your thoughts?

mrMACKism says:

can you remove a rear panel only from an 84 chevy pick up instead of the
whole box?

TheMoshman12 says:

Just did this on my 2003 gmc Sierra 4×4 much Easier then what is shown in
the video only 8 18 mm bolts no need to remove the bumper or tail lights
just unhook the lights from the electrical box under the bumper the 2 black
ones leave the blue and red attached I’m a pretty big guy so removing the
box my self was easy and yah it’s about 275 pounds once the box is removed
it a good idea to clean the frame up a bit sand any rust repaint Or what
ever you wanna touch up for being a 2003 I was surp
