Nice video! Would this be the same fix on a 2002 GMC Envoy?
The previous owner of my 1992 Toyota Windom (Lexus ES300) removed the
spoiler containing the 3rd brake light and the wiring to go with it. I now
need to get a Warrant of Fitness for my car and have to deal with the
missing break light first. This is actually quite a common problem and I’ve
been unable to find much help on the internet, finding only how to replace
or repair the light, but not what to do when you’ve got to wire it up from
scratch. I can’t find any sign of the wiring for the removed spoiler brake
light. A video showing exactly how to wire up a 3rd brake light, by
splicing into the wires in the boot would be really helpful! Showing how to
do it both by crimping and soldering (not everyone has soldering iron)
would be good. How to tell what wires are what (+ & – or ground). The light
I have to install has 2 wires. I can’t afford an auto electrician,or to buy
lots more tools.
You could have someone step on the brake and see if the third brake light
has power going to it with a test light. If there isn’t power going to the
brake light, check the fuses and also the brake light switch on the top of
the brake pedal to see if there’s a broke or frayed wire. Reply back, let
us know how you made out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Thanks for the video but can you tell me what the actual piece that holds
the light is called. The entire colored piece above the window. I need to
get one as that whole assembly is missing off my truck.
The brake light switch should be on the brake pedal arm under the dash.
I have 2002 Trailblazer. The factory brake light has a neon tube what a
joke! I will be buying one from you. First checked C.B under back seat it
was good. If this new light does not solve the problem what would be next
in the series of troubleshooting? BTW A car mechanic tried to charge me
$249.00 for this light. LOL
Yes this was a big help. I too thought there was an actual bulb. Took it
apart to check the wiring and all was intact. Thanks
Thanks for the help. This really helped me.
How can I change for a tahoe 2003 the brake light on top
Thanks for watching. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Thanks for the help. This really helped me. I thought there was an actual
light bulb inside that needed to be replaced.
all ready switch the part but it still doesnt work were exactly can i find
the switch on a 2003 trailblazer?
It sounds like some type of brake light housing for the third brake light.
