has a CEL from something, dont know from what tho since do dont have a
reader but at the gas pump i couldnt pump for more than a few seconds
before it started clicking off like it was full…. not a fun thing to deal
with with its cold as shit outside and your wife is whining to get home…
took the whole unit off and threw it in my shop sink. opened the cover to
the main unit and it was full of gravel road dust, washed it all off and
cleaned everything off. replaced the unit. one of three things is gonna
happen, its fixed and i dont have to worry about it again at least for a
year or two, that doesnt solve my problem and i have to investigate further
or the car blows up killing her and i collect life insurance on her and
move somewhere off ravel roads and warner….. ill let you know what
happens later…

I have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS 3.8 but Im getting code P0446 01/02 and it
comes up Evap Vent Solonoid is this not the same thing as wht you replaced
in your video?

Jerry Garcia says:

Thank you for this step by step installation. It took me 15-20 minutes but
I had code P0449 on my 2007 Chevy Impala. I order the AC Delco part number
214-3218 but also needed the Jumper Wiring Harness Assembly part number
19257603 from Amazon both for under $50. I cleared the computer by
disconnecting the battery cable and the check engine turned off. It has
been 2 days and light did not come back on. Thank you once again Matt.

Chris Watrous says:

Is this close to how to fix it for a 2002 impala as well?

TheOSU2014 says:

Nice vid. Had to change mine. 2010 impala lt. It was pretty easy. Took
about 10 minutes. Got the part from a local gm dealer the same day. It was
less than 100 bucks if I remember right. Anyway, removed old one, hooked up
new one. Went to auto parts store and they cleared the code/light for me. 7
months later and the light hasnt come back.

Railfan6675 says:

Great Video. I’m sure this is my problem also. ’06 Impala.

obadiah7771 says:

Just to update the plug issue. If
You need a new jumper harness for your evap vent valve the part is 1161
duralast through autozone or acdelco 19257603 through amazon. I hope this
helps.

obadiah7771 says:

Thanks for your video!! I also changed the purge solenoid under the hood.
Unfortunately I got everything buttoned up and the plug is wrong on the
Vent canister!!! So I have to go get an adapter. Oh well such as life. Live
and learn. Great video though.

juan Botello says:

Can this also cause car to not turn on?

MrByronPaz says:

Hey man good video on this issue! I have had this issue with my 06 Impala
for months now! Anyways just wanted to know if it fixed the problem and
where did you purchase the valve from?

Galloway GotBang says:

$77 @ chevey dealer I just install mines

Neil Gealy says:

Where did you buy the part? Did it fix the problem? I am having the same
symptoms that you mention at the beginning of the video with my 2006
Impala. A new gas cap did not fix the problem so I will probably try this.

Tyler Steinback says:

After changing the valve and you cleared the codes .Did your check engine
light and code ever come back as if you never fixed a thing. Might the
purge valve be the problem?

Ray Jones says:

what is the part # for 2008 Pontiac grand prix?

jnj2909 says:

is this a Canister Solenoid Valve

zr1cruz says:

thank you, i have the same code on my 06 gmc ..

reddog9401 says:

this is not the purge vent solenoid right?where is the purge solenoid
located on the car.thanks great video

bill qosby says:

I’ve had my check engine light on for a while now, I’ve replaced the gas
cap twice and it was still giving the same code, so i narrowed it down to
this….dealer wanted the usual $200+ to fix it, i paid $76 for the part
and installed it literally in about 15 minutes thanks to your
video….awesome! Thanks for posting! (no more engine light btw)

EnviroRico says:

Is there a separate vent control valve that could also cause a PO455 code,
or is it usually this component that causes the DTC?

Matthew Pilarski says:

Sorry it took me so long to respond everybody…the valve you have to buy
at the dealer. You can buy it online through rockauto.com or another OEM
parts website, but i went to the dealer. The valve was about $60…most
dealers have a parts counter within the dealership…you just have to look
🙂

troubles_loc says:

Isn’t that the canister? ?

jeevespreston says:

Excellent video, great instruction and commentary. Saved me a rip to the
dealer and a couple hundred dollars!!! Thanks!!!

cjmO117 says:

I got a PO499 which states vent solenoids defective, Failed EVAP vent
solenoid, or fuel saturated canister. Just wondering if this is similar.
The local Auto Zone said it was on the front of the car near the intake.
But it seems common of this going bad on Impala’s. I currently own a 2007
Impala LS.

MRexDouchebag says:

haven’t made this repair yet but i will this weekend…took my car to Ammco
transmission (because of my extended warranty carrier) Part was not covered
but they would gladly make the repair for $350 bucks..Thank you so much for
posting

Jonathan Trevino says:

I had the same problem, but i replaced it in the following order, first i
changed the gas cap, but tighten gas cap still remained on the gauge
display, then i changed the purge solenoid and check engine light came back
on, so afterwards i did the Evap Control Solenoid and it worked like a
charm. In your case i’m almost positive it’s going to be the purge
solenoid, you can get this part at Napa, Autozone or Advance Auto parts
also Carquest between 22-26 dollars. Hope this helps.
