Great thanks you so much for the video ..u save me 450 dollars .. Keep it
up!!!
Great videos! I wish I would have seen them before replacing the fan
clutch on my ’97 Safari. (I didn’t need to replace the water pump.) I had
a heck of a time getting it off, the pulley kept turning. Never thought
about smacking the wrench with a hammer. I had to get a small crowbar and
another set of hands to hold the pulley still.
But why oh why did you flush it and put Dexcool back in it? No wonder you
had to replace the water pump, that stuff eats them up, and causes all
kinds of other problems. If I were you, I’d flush that garbage out ASAP,
and put in regular, or universal type anti-freeze. I’ve done it to mine,
and also my 2001 Malibu, and have had no issues.
thank you for your help
Hey scotty have u done a brake line video yet that would be a great one on
fixed busted lines
Awesome vids! Water pump just went out on my 2002 Astro yesterday and it
was good video to watch and confirm a fair shop price for the
replacement…thanks!
thanks again for posting this video. my van is fixed now thanks to you.
would not have taken this on without being able to see how it was done.
saved me alot of money and i know its done right. many, many thanks….
We have lots of videos on Astrovans. Also 2 playlist on our YouTube channel
on Astros.
You can see the weep hole from under the van. Just look for the bottom of
the water pump that is ware the water pump starts to leak first.
I have a 97 and just the other day its started leaking coolant from the
middle of engine and its like a waterfall and couple people told me its the
water pump so hopefully thats what it is. Thank you for making this im sure
it will help!
Great how to video! Although I dont have an astrovan, they principles apply
to many vehicles. the most important to note is the DIY cost, versus the
shop cost….LOL. Those numbers were not an exaggeration by any means. I
recently had to repair the rear hub on our toyota corrolla. The estimate
for taking it to the shop was WAY more than the cost of the part, plus some
of my time.
Great video part 1 and 2 Thanks Scotty I will be doing this job later this
afternoon I would like to see video on ac/vac issues Thanks again
Scotty, Thanks for a very helpful vid. The only hitch was the fan clutch
bolt; loosening it was a bit of a trial. Happened to have a large pulley
wrench that I was able to use while turning the bolt. Local parts stores
did not have GM fan clutch removal tools for rent.
Damn this videos showed me how to do it Right the first time! Thanks alot.
why no gasket??? anyway good movie
Glad this video helped you out please subscribe for more automotive repair
videos. We also have a
Great video! Thanks! I’m going to tackle the job (with your help), today.

Thanks for posting Scott! I’m off to swap out my pump!
Great vid. Auto shop just gave an estimate of $451 parts n labor 3hr to get
it done and a back yard mechanic just told me $175 parts n labor the whole
day to get done. So i think im gonna get the pump tonight get up at 5am get
it done by 8am got all the tools n im pretty handy so thanks a lot. how
bout a vid on hydraulic lifters 🙂

pump for her. I was going to take her in to the shop again but after seeing
this i will be doing this one myself. Thanks for posting this video.
