I’ve had 3 GM vans of this model and they all have this same problem . You
would think GM would have a grease zerk fitting on these . They know full
well that they all hang up from a lack of lube , but they just plain don’t
give a shit .

Harold Stembridge says:

This guy is a genius. I have 2 chevy express vans, 2003 and 2005. I ended
up paying over $1000 to replace the hinges on the 2005. And now those
replaced hinges suck. My 2003 van has the same problem, so I tried drilling
the hole in the hinge and injected WD40. Like magic the door is working.

Thank you for taking the time to show your idea to others. My family has
struggled for years with our family van. Even broke the window once from
trying to close the door. Bless you.

Works great thank you very much for putting this video up. The only thing I
did different was to drill the holes from the inside so they don’t show and
will be protected from the weather better

PembrookProperties says:

The only thing I did different from your video is I opened the door all
the way and was able to drill the holes on the inside of the hinge so it
doesn’t even show. I plan to fill the holes with the spay white lithium
grease I bought and fill the holes with a dab of white silicone. THANKS
AGAIN. I LOVE YOU TUBE.

JAZUNDOLL says:

Did you pull the hinge pins prior to drilling?

richard steblenko says:

great !!! i heard it can cost up to $800 to get dealer installed hinges.
thanks for posting the easy fix

Russ Melton says:

Thanks! I stumbled on this looking for something else my van. It work like
a charm – I was really sick of the door being hard to open and the hinge
almost breaking.

PembrookProperties says:

THANK YOU!! The side door on my 2004 Express Cargo Van would barely open
and the hinges were about to come unwelded. The dealer who told me the only
thing I could do was to replace the hinges for several hundred dollars.

PembrookProperties says:

No need to pull the pins
