My Silverado does not have the Homelink, is this upgrade plug and play??

Consuela Alvarez says:

Why couldn't you just replace the center trim piece with the homelink button in it vs the whole console? I found just the trim piece and plan to swap just that unless you found you need the full setup to make the homelink buttons work?

Intended purpose of this video wasn't helpful since I have a different truck but your tip about the PartsDirect search was super! Never occurred to me before, thanks!

Ken Holiday says:

with the 2019 1500 Silverado do you think this would work the same way?

Would this fit in a 2017 Canyon?

Claude Hayden says:

Just upgraded mine with the help of your video and other videos combined. My console had Philips not Torx (2018). Also, I had to move from my old console to the new console the passenger seat-belt indicator. The moving of the seat-belt indicator required a small flat head screwdriver. And "another" thing, I can’t stress enough how much pulling down that upper console after removing the screws will scare the crap out of you. Mine was in there tight and did NOT want to come down. When It did, even trying to be careful it caught the main wiring harness connector on the headliner frame and bent the bracket of the wiring harness on the old console. I could have easily caught the headliner fabric and torn it. So, others have described this as one of the easiest upgrades, yes that's true but it’s by no means totally easy like changing a light bulb due to the risk of messing up the very expensive headliner. One of thing, a magnetic tipped screw driver really helps. If you have a helper with a flashlight that helps as well to spot the screw holes when reattaching the upgraded unit. In hindsight I may have taped the screws into the holes with painters’ tape. Then after tightening removed the tape.

Joey Clawges says:

Is this really just plug and play? Everything for Home Link to operate contained in the console or is there another module that has to be added in?
