John Dumas says:

Hi guys…

Would you happen to have a video on removing the gas tank on a 92 GMC C1500?

Thank you,
John

Peter Rudy says:

The new connector is mandatory even if the old one fits. GM has a tech
bulletin that says many of the dead pumps were caused by high resistance
and failing connectors. Many pumps that were installed without a new
connector have the new pump fail in three weeks to one year. And you must
replace the inline fuel filter or the warranty on the pump is void.

Tracy James says:

Was the new ele. connector that came with the new pump ness.? Cause I jst
changed mine & now my gas guage don’t work, but it’s the exact same
connecter!?

Tracy James says:

& I didn’t install the new ele. Connector, could that b the problem?

Brianfanatics says:

i have a 1997 chevy tahoe ls 5,7lr and it macks a huming niose from the
back win ti starts and win its off

imissdad12 says:

My fuel gauge in my 99 suburban is stuck on empty. The fuel pump does make
a weird noise when I turn the key. Is this probably my fuel pump that’s
gone bad?

Brianfanatics says:

i love this vido

madtownmadman says:

…it. It just stays tight in place. Doesn’t budge. It makes me think that
there is something else holding it. Or I just need to get a lot more
aggressive in removing it.

HEAVYGUNZ05 says:

thanks so much your vid was extremely helpful

BklynJayL says:

I’m hoping it’s just the Fuel Pump Relay that’s causing my ’99 Suburban to
have a long, and hard start at 1st. crank in the morning, but I’m not sure
if it’s THAT, the FPR., or the Fuel Pump. I was told, it could most likely
be my Fuel Pump, but I had the Fuel Pump changed only 4 yrs. ago, and when
it finally does start, it stay running like new, all the way until I, cut
it off again…then, it cranks, and starts without a problem…unless I,
leave it sitting for a few hrs.. I’m confused..

Reuben Stahl says:

I just replaces mine on a 01 suburban.Jacked up the rear blocked it with
tire stands. Tank was half full of gas was not a problem. Used the floor
jack to support the tank. Lowered it down towards back of sub and was able
to get to pump and replace. Took me 2 hours.

Greg Cook says:

We choose to show how to disconnect the lines once we had the tank removed.
It was almost impossible to show us disconnecting the lines while the tank
was still connected as there wasn’t enough room. We also showed the tool we
used and how we had to modify it. I believe the way we did it was more
helpful since we could show a better view of the lines. Greg

HEAVYGUNZ05 says:

Is that why I have a Humming Noise from the back.

AZcigarman1 says:

I cut an access panel in the bed of my truck and it worked perfect? Thank
you!

Greg Cook says:

I really don’t know. I wouldn’t think it’s your brake light switch or none
of the brake lights would work. I use to have problems with mine blowing
fuses when I towed my trailer. I had to increase the size of the fuse. But
I think all of my brake lights didn’t work. I wish I was more help.

Greg Cook says:

From what I can tell from reading your post, the only things left are the
fuel lines and some small hoses attached to the top of the tank. None of
this would hold your tank in place. If you have removed the straps the tank
should move even with the filler and vent hoses attached. I would probably
use a pry bar and try to break it loose. Greg

Greg Cook says:

There could be a few different things wrong but most likely it’s a problem
with the sending unit. Bad thing is the sending unit is part of the fuel
pump and to fix it you will have to replace the pump. You could check for
good connections to the fuel pump but this will involve lowing the tank to
where you can access the top of it. Greg

Greg Cook says:

If you’re going to replace the pump anyway then breaking the fittings makes
it a little easier to remove. Thanks Greg

HEAVYGUNZ05 says:

why not just disconnect the battery

JOHN MILLER says:

My gas guage is not working can you give me some advice please

Killian665 says:

I removed the bolts on the straps and the plastic shield came off but the
tank itself isn’t budging

mdowning77 says:

you guys know what the deal is with my brake lights? 1999 2500 ck seris p/u
3rd brake light works, 2 rears dont….but my lights all work, like
reverse, and runners. i replaced board, lights…..now what? brake switch
is what im hearing…..but would 3rd work if something was wrong with my
brake ligh switch?

JOHN MILLER says:

1999 chevy suburban

Greg Cook says:

Be careful as nothing is holding the tank up. It’s just stuck in position.
Some gentle prying is probably in order here. Just be careful and make sure
it’s supported when it breaks loose.

gadgetguyauto says:

its your blinker switch on yur truck I just had to replace mine

Greg Cook says:

We removed the reply so we could crank the engine over to relieve any fuel
pressure that may have still be in the lines.

Greg Cook says:

I have seen people do that but I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s fairly easy to
drop the tank. Another option would be to remove the bed. I just don’t like
cutting holes in my vehicles..

Greg Cook says:

You’re very welcome. So glad it helped.

madtownmadman says:

I’m replacing the fuel pump on my brothers ’97 Suburban. I disconnected the
filler neck and vent hose, as well as the electrical connection to the fuel
pump. And last but not least, the straps to the tank. I can’t drop the tank
to gain access to anything else. It is STUCK in place. I noticed that there
is foam placed between the frame/sheetmetal, and the tank itself. Is there
anything else that the tank is physically attached to? Even putting my
upperbody weight on the tank does nothing to loosn

Greg Cook says:

Sometimes the fuel pump will get louder before it goes out. But that wasn’t
the case for this one. It just quit. But most if not all fuel pumps make
enough noise to be heard.

Young Khalifa says:

Auto parts store sold me wrong line fittings.. So I broke the connections
like you did in the video… Gas gauge stopped working a month ago so
replacing the pump
