Awesome man! Thats what I like to hear!

AGearHead4Life says:

Already installed. Guess I should have recorded it. Sorry.

I do have video of installing the arms onto the truck though. I’ve still got to edit it though.

Ryan Schneider says:

Do a bushing install video next if you haven’t installed them already

Ryan Schneider says:

Thanks for the video, no I feel for confident on replacing mine with the prothane bushings I just got.

AGearHead4Life says:

I dont think you’ll have much luck with a hammer…. I tried that. A large bench vise can do it, but mine was too weak (Harbor Freight) and broke. What worked best was a home made tool. It was a pipe with a cap and a bolt through it. It pull the bushing in pretty well with an impact. I didnt get my press until after I finish this truck and another. lol I guess I should make a video on the tool I made. You could try to use a ball joint tool from the auto parts store. You rent them for free.

nice video. im actually working on taking them off right now, same year and everything. I was wondering about any tips on putting new ones back in after I get the old ones off. Im hoping i’ll be able to pound them back in with a big hammer, or do you HAVE to use a press??

AGearHead4Life says:

No problem! Glad you enjoyed it.

jasmenter says:

nice one mate,
Thanks for the vid.

AGearHead4Life says:

Thanks for the useless feedback. Once you upload your FIRST video I’ll consider listening to your response. I’m pretty sure the people looking to repair their control arm bushing are appreciative.

This video sucks balls

AGearHead4Life says:

That tool does sound familiar, but I havent tried it to see if it would work on the application. That rubber doesnt like to give any.

I would suggest a bushing with sleeve. It’d save a headache. That’s just not what I wound up with. I’ve seen that the stock bushings do come with a sleeve and so do some poly bushings.

This video will mainly give one another option to choose from. What it did for me was make me want to buy a torch…

dvco1701 says:

I see how this could work if installing a poly bushing and reusing the sleeve, but there is a tool it looks like a ball joint remover you can rent at autozone but at the bottom it s not a full circle it looks like a half moon that allows you to use it to get around the shaft. I can’t find anywere that rent them but they are cheap as $80, and you can still use them for ball joints and u-jioints Also every oem style bushing I have bought is part of the sleeve. But I’ll try your method next time.

AGearHead4Life says:

Also, The shell had to be saved to be used with the Polly bushing that I was installing. Some Polly bushings come with the shell and some dont.

People usually destroy this shell when removing this bushing with a chisel. Or they’ll burn out the rubber and then hack saw the shell. A hammer will tap the shell out once the bushing is out.

AGearHead4Life says:

First and most important, I try to do my videos with tools commonly found at home already or by making our own. Trying to keep it to where the average person could accomplish the task without buying a tool. This job would normally be done with a torch by burning out the rubber. I have not yet seen a tool that can remove these bushing with the shaft going through them. The shaft is in the way of what one would normally do. You could probably do this with a full press, but most dont have that.

dvco1701 says:

I might be missing something here but did you just pull out the bushing from the bushing sleeve? What’s the point of that? I would of just spent the $100 and bought the tool to press them out in one piece.

AGearHead4Life says:

Thanks Marlboroman!

Marlboroman6721314 says:

Good job…

AGearHead4Life says:

Than you sir! Yea, it does a lil bit. Gotta think a little more before hand.

eclypse256 says:

loving the new gopro aspect of the videos. kind of puts you under pressure to know exactly what you’re going to do from start to finish, though 😉

AGearHead4Life says:

Yep! too easy. even with the lq4. Im doing a lq4 in my 92 Camaro now. Was going to easily get 400rwhp naturally aspirated. Now my youtube audience has helped me decide to go turbo. So i expect to see 600rwhp with it. Cant wait!

sticker352 says:

AGearHead4Life says:

sticker352 says:

sticker352 says:

i should have put a ls in my truck.

sticker352 says:

oh ok, i got mines mosty finished.. if u get it back buy one of those steel collumns i did. i figure they can take parts off of it but thay cant get the truck.

AGearHead4Life says:

I wish man. THanks, but not yet. I just finally got the time to edit and upload this video is all.
