Of course it wasn’t you have a GM car lol. Look how long it took this guy to do something that anyone can do in 5 min in any other car. GM would like it if their techs could change your guys’ wiper blades too.
Chevy HHRs are trash, that’s why I got rid of mine. Wait til you need your headlamps changed lol. Everything about this car was designed for dealer-only service. Meaning it was intended to be a pain when it comes to routine maintenance. How do you like the surplus hand-me-down frame and crap suspension in those turds? Felt like mine would roll if i took a slight turn at 60. If anyone reading this is considering buying an HHR don’t do it. Unless you like slow, poor handling mechanical nightmares.
Thanks, the Owners Manual was no help at all. Headlight replacement was also impossible following the manual.
I would re-do the video if I were you, and actually put some effort in it and have a, you know… quality how to video, IMO
Nice..this helped a lot
lol looks like a pain in the ass.. and i thought my cobalt was a bust..well great video now i know how to replace the air filter at work
Thanks bro.
Been meaning to do this for a long time.
thanks….got what I need out of it.
it isnt white
it comes stock yellow
Thanks
will definitively help me. 73 000 km and never been changed, it’s surely due
Thanks man. Love your friend who put the sticky note on the manual. This is why I will NOT buy another Chevy. Stupid engineering at its finest.
Thanks for uploading this, sideburns2009. I’m lazy too, which is why I preferred to watch this video than read the manual. I friggin hate torq bits! It is GM’s fault for making this a pain in the ass and the car is made in Mexico.
Speaking of lazy, ours is a 2009 and I’m about to change the air filter for the first time. 72,000 miles 🙂
NOTE: 2008 HHR also has a weird bracket on the left side. You have to loosen the bolt on it before you can lift up the air filter assembly. I just changed mine today, first time. It was a pain in the ass, but this video helped. Why does Chevy make things so difficult. I miss my Jeep! 🙂 Thanks for the video.
Thank you that would have been a huge PITA with out that video!
First the wrench size he said to use is wrong, and second if he knows anything about Chevrolets is that all AC Delco filters are light yellow when new not white, like he told the girl in the video. DUH!!!!!!
Check out this HHR Repair vide guys: “Chevy HHR oil cooler”
Check out this HHR repair video guys.
Sorry to say but it is not easy to change the air filter on a HHR 2011. Just did that and I can say that it takes an hour or better to remove the Air filter housing to replace the filter.
I am trying to install a G Force Economizer on my 2011 HHR and would like to know which 2 wires of the harness on the sensor I splice onto. Thanks
pain in the ass! thanks for the video. i just changed mine today. funny thing is the “owners manual” says you shouldn’t have to replace for 50k miles!? yeah right. i just err on side of caution and change mine out early. idk what chevy was thinking on this design.. pain in the ass! plain and simple
thanks for recording this, I might have unscrewed the bolts instead of just popping the back part off, whew…time saver
heh never thought id see an hhr with a manual transmission
Thnx man, damn dealership getting over on us in these times I’m starting to do simple fixes on my vehicle
thank you for this video…..I’m gonna do it….you saved me some $…yay you
tool
I went to change my the air filter on my 09 HHR. Opened the hood– was like, “WTF?!?”… Your video made it easy, however… Thanks!
Hey Thanks for the useful video ,,,, I just changed my spark plugs and needed to know how to get the Fricking Air Filter off…. Same setup as on a 2011 btw. Also the Oil filter is a canister type, found a youtube video for that also. Thanks for taking the time to do the video Dude,
