We are getting down on the OBS big block shop truck this week! We’re tackling a whole ton of work on this Chevy 454ss, starting with the interior. The dash section of this 1500 is getting gutted because even though this truck is a parts-getter for the shop, we can’t have a cracked dash falling apart as we’re grabbing our nuts and bolts! While that dash is out, we’re working on the inside of our firewall to mount up our Restomod Haymaker unit and all of it’s controls. While we’re there, we’re also securing our Holley Sniper EFI ignition box and coil, so that those electronics aren’t cluttering up our engine bay. Under the dash is also where our electronic shift controller is getting mounted, so that we can wire it into our Sniper unit and be able to control our 4L80 transmission.

With all the work done underneath the dash, we can get started piecing together our decrepit dashboard. We’re merging a new-to-us dash panel with a few new bezels and all the old components from our original dash. From there, we’re fabricating up some little cubby’s and panels to fill in all the ugly, unused spaces that are no longer needed, and creating a nice faceplate to mount the controls for our restomod AC control knobs. This new dashboard is also getting a bluetooth headunit, along with some tiny Kenwood dash speakers so we can blast some tunes while heading to the parts store.

Even though the interior isn’t 100% wired up, we’re just about ready to hop inside this truck and turn the key! Make sure to subscribe because next episode, we’re mounting our radiator, making our final wiring connections, fabricating an exhaust and flipping that ignition switch for a first fire up! Don’t miss it!

D Norris says:

factory…..looks like a factory 90s ford…… not a fan of the ac nobs but the rest looks great. love your content

Beetle Builder says:

I thought that the 454SS trucks had turbo 400 transmissions in them. Did someone put a 4L80E in this one or did it come from the factory with that?

Broken Bone Garage says:

Great job guys, love how you make things looks simple to build. No nonsense.
I don't recall where, but I saw an interview Mike gave and it really changed my perspective on you Sir.
Down to earth guy doing what most of us would like to do, following dreams building hot rods.
Keep it up and trust me I'm… sorry, ''we'' are all learning from you guys.

LowTide Customs says:

Mikey bustin it out this week!!! Nice work Buddy!

TripleThreatRC says:

The episodes always feel too short but that's only because of the fast pace and great content. Keep on keeping on!

Greg_Canada says:

the hell did you gets that radio

Wrecker '56 says:

Love the way that dash is looking & that stereo will rock, I'm really into car stereos; I have 2 12 inch M.T.X. subs in my car hooked up to a 1000 watt amp. & 2 500 watt Boss 6x9s hooked up to a 1000 watt amp. I was gonna upgrade the head unit, but it controls the heat & A.C. but it's blue-tooth from the factory, so that's cool. Love your work guys, best 'car content' on YouTube…in my opinion!

thomas foster says:

Man, I love the fab work you guys do. If I had the cash, I definitely sent my 86 dooley to you

koutros100 says:

Love this build – trying to catch up on all the episodes as I been out of the loop since the Tesla C10. I noticed the absence of Tim is he still around?

Darrel Leaf says:

Go team Savage. Awesome build guys 100%

rjkusse says:

Should've added a wireless charging pad underneath the cubby….make it more functional.

Solve Fix Build says:

This is a simple build but one of my favorites. I love these trucks and you guys are making this one beautiful.

Fish Pony says:

Dude i nerd out when u guys start making little brackets and shit for all the modules, suspension, etc. I work on these exact trucks literally daily and i usually just tie wrap and hide everything. What a great skill to have. U guys are monsters

Cpl.Hicks says:

Dont forget the K5LA

rchavez 505 says:

I took the dash out of my 94 to repaint all the dash components. You are right that there is a shit load of screws. After I took it out, I thought, "What have I done and how does this go back together."

None ya says:

Love the truck build y'all. Killer shop truck. You guys are so fun to watch work on these vehicles
