I hope the new radio fixes it. I know those radios are sometimes hard to
wire up. I had trouble with the radio in my camper. I had to play with it
for a few hours to get it wired up right.
No, the factory wiring harness plugs into the receiver located under the
dash near the gas pedal. Get an adapter to go from the factory harness to
the new radio.
The radio in my ’93 Blazer is still working so I better cross my fingers.
I’ve never *personally* been a fan of those kits, so I guess if mine plays
out eventually I’ll have to learn how to repair it somehow.
Thanks, if you can get the harness off without removing it. Some of the
wires come from the remote unit on the dash. It’s pretty easy to remove and
you can always put it back if you want.
That’s ok. It gets loud enough, but I can still hear that whine. I’m also
thinking my antenna is also bad. The stations fade in and out even the
local ones.
Hey I’m putting a new radio in right now in a 1991 chevy once I take the
wires off from the box by the pedals do I cut the end of wires then rewire
it the wires that came with the head unit ?
You can do that, but I would recommend getting a factory wiring harness
adapter so that you can retain the original GM plug. You can find them very
reasonably priced on eBay or probably amazon or maybe your local auto parts
store. You will also need an antenna adapter because the GM antenna plug is
smaller than standard.
Watch out for radios with a right hand connection with these. I installed a
pioneer deh 8400 bh in My k1500 blazer and because of some little box back
in the back I can’t push the radio all the way in so it sticks out about an
inch even with the proper mounting face like yours.
Just buy a good name brand one kenwood or alpine best buy usually has good
deals or even eBay they are definitely worth the money I bought a similar
one for my cj7 from Walmart I popped it out going 60 and chucked in the
road it was driving me so crazy good vid
great vid, i was installing an aftermarket on my dads 92 chevy, looked at
the wires got lost. very informative. but is there a need to completely
take off that bottom piece with the 3 screws ? or just disconnect them and
run the wires to the new harness .. thanks ! greetings from dallas tx !
Tha t truck is in beautiful condition, I’ve got a 90′ dually that I thought
was nice but that Silverado is gorgeous
What if the previous owner cut the harness tails from the gm radio wires.
What do I do?
I like how the older Chevys had digital climate controls, then it went to
knobs, back to digital, and then knobs again

Yeah, they aren’t cheap.
Yeah that’s the a/c duct. That’s why I bought a short radio.
I’m too cheap..
you should google car radio making noise… it might be a bad Ground or you
need a ground loop isolator
I liked the factory radio. You can get rebuilt ones on eBay but they are
more than I wanted to pay.
So do I connect the wires from the new radio to the “Head Unit?”
eBay

I think it’s 20 each for a total of 80 but its sounds like crap! I can’t
even stand to listen because that whine is so annoying

Oh, I see what you mean. Can you not move it out of way?
It sound that you need to get a noise filter install on the negative wire.

It could be. I guess I’ll find out when I put another radio in.
Try LMC Truck
mine has a little box with wires running into it attached from the ac duct

Oh, you already did the dividing. That was dumb of me.

can listen to some tunes..

just installed a Kenwood and it doesn’t stick out.
