Thanks for taking the time to do the video. I may tackle this tomorrow on a HD Silverado 2500 4×4 hope its the same! What is torque spec. for axle nut 120 ft lbs??? This would be helpful also any caveats on ordering parts is factory the only way to go or is aftermarket just as good?

mlchael roy says:

I set mine up on the “A” arm or toe it up so it doesn’t

mlchael roy says:

Shouldn’t let the brake caliper hang from the brake hose !

James Saylor says:

I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 352000 on it. Ive pulled skidsters and jobsite trailers up and down mountain passes in Colorado, for 9 years. For the first time, since I bought it (14000 miles on it when I bought it ), I’ve just replaced the wheelbearings and hub assembly. In addition, this is about the most major repair I’ve had to do to this truck, besides the normal repairs like breaks, ujoints, and fuel pump.Everything else is original still to this day! Believe it or not!

Leif Hagen says:

@Eng8492 dude I live in alaska, gimme a break. Just did mine this morning and it was a piece of cake. Thanks for the video! And yeah, you should tell us specifics on the torques and axle nut sizes. I got mine off with a 36mm and NAPA told me 177 ft-lbs.

hmong power says:

This is a easy one. Wait tell there one so rusty n won’t come off.

nward190 says:

Hubs are covered under power train 5 years or 100000 miles u-joints to

Tom Hawk says:

Was referring to the axle nut.

Tom Hawk says:

Liked the video, very well done. My only complaint is no mention of the size of sockets used to removed various bolts. If you happen to have large sockets already you can just do trial & error until you find one that fits…but if you need to go buy one, it isn’t all that easy to measure in there so you can get the right socket the first time.

David Redmon says:

Did one of these the other day took all of 30min…The spindle nut was to be torqued at 187ft lbs..

wsdplad says:

your video sucked ass

digitalfuk says:

TAKES YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND SCHOOL TO SEE THIS MAN PERFORM HIS WORK LIKE ARTWORK.

Gasser4x4 says:

I could show you a 96 bronco that also has a plow and has only broken leaf spring shackle brackets.. thats older tech.. so prove me wrong now..

Tungsten23 says:

Makes sense. You bought a 4 year younger truck that you can “beat the crap out of”. Aside from newer technology and components it makes sense to state, “GM sucks”. NOT!

Eng8492 says:

Damn I am so tired of these videos with southern cars that have no rust or frozen bolts. If you live in the Northeast and you think your hub is going to come out like that bwahahahahahahahahahahah.

arkansascountryboy88 says:

Iv never seen a auto tech wear gloves until this video. I have a 99 chevy 1500 4×4 and its got a lift and its never had anything smaller than 35s tires and i just had to replace my hubs and the truck has 240,000 miles. Either i got a really good truck or i just got lucky.

JAMIE DEAN says:

my trucks a 92 – the process is virtually the same isn’t it?

Freddie McGuire says:

What do you torque the three knuckle bolts at and the main spindle nut at?

TheSmoothGrind says:

I noticed not using torque wrench on the spindle nut as well. I think that causes failure if not torqued to proper specs before placing load on it.

Ziven says:

I would assume that buying a newer vheicle, you’d expect it to do more. But you can’t say ford is more reliable. They are far from it.

Gasser4x4 says:

Yep i love ford!!

srmastertech says:

That’s what I love about Ford, they are build for a beating!

Gasser4x4 says:

@srmastertech I have a 2000 gmc 2500 and I only plow with it once a year. Literally it bit me in the but last year with a bill of 3500 for a new tcase trans rear and front diff service and 2 new tires. I will never buy a gm truck again. I have had an 04 f250 for 2 years this month. I beat the crap out of it last year with the amount of snow we got here in nj

srmastertech says:

This one had about 80K on it, but is was driven on dirt roads for at least 30K of these.

Gasser4x4 says:

How many miles on that chevy? I got a pos gmc and the hubs are shot. only 72k on them. Atleast the guy brought it to the right dealer! FORD!

Don Mainville says:

When working in a shop for flat rate, the mechanic would never make money using hand tools…(Flat rate is when you have a set time to complet a job, and are only paid for that time frame. Any extra time is absorbed by the mechanic)

bigevans77 says:

but all and all this is a pretty good video just please try to not use impact to tighten bolts you might end up regretting it

bigevans77 says:

you know people most of the time when you bring your truck to the shop to get this done they use an impact for everything i just had to replace both caliper bracket bolts do to the fact that the shop i had my hub changed at{i would normally do this myself but was in i bind had to go out of town in two hours} used impact wrench and the 18 socket would not even fit the bolt was to rounded so i pounded an 11/16 on to it then checked the torque at least 950 this is bad don’t use impact to tighten

srmastertech says:

I only use the impact to snug to nut up.

srmastertech says:

Great comment and The axle torque is correct. Torque was set and not shown due to the socket coming loose and me falling on the ground. Editing miracle!

jonnytahoe95 says:

You never Torqued the Axle nut. The box my hub came in had a picture of a air impact with a red circle and a line through it. You did a great job and you torqued all the other bolts which I have never seen anyone do.

jonnytahoe95 says:

You never Torqued the Axle shaft Nut. The Proper Torque is 165 – 177 ft. lbs. Depending on the vehicle and the model year. The box or the instructions if included with the hub will say not to use a impact on the Axle nut.

jonnytahoe95 says:

Note to Strokes on here: This is the best Hub removal vidio on youtube. If you dont know what your doing, or your dirt driveway is your work area, dont waste our time.

jonnytahoe95 says:

Nice Job Mastertech. What are you torqueing the 3 bearing bolts at??. I used a 15mm wrench and just got em as tight as I could by hand. You guys using chisels should take note: This is how you get em off, if the small hammer does not work in two minutes time use a big sledge and beat that sucker.

jonnytahoe95 says:

hey Rambo, I bet you put big wheels and tires on your truck and thats why your bearing only lasted 36.000 mi. I just replaced the left side on my 2000 Tahoe with 209550 mi. Thats right. I bought it new so yes it was the Original.

srmastertech says:

This truck has a lift kit, But I dont know what kit was installed.

ZachManZ71 says:

does this truck have a level kit?

srmastertech says:

This truck had 71K miles on it. There was a growling noise in the front end and a speed sensor fault on the LF.

JUDGERAMBO says:

How many miles on this 2007, just replaced mine in my 2006 (35,000mi)
