I think he ment impala lol

snerbjexter says:

Question…my hubs are still good but my traction control system is acting up. Had a scan and said that my speed sensor is acting up sporadically. Will replacing my hub fix this issue and my traction control from coming on or do I need to replace the sensor specifically?

Thomas Robinson says:

Ya, up here in Canada, none of what was done in this video was easy. 😀 Too much snow/salt during the winter, everything was seized, I even cracked a 13mm socket in half trying to get the bolts out. :S

APDTY says:

To me it’s strange that so many people experience stuck hubs, maybe it’s because we are in Florida, and we have less rusting issues, but here it is very rare to encounter a difficult to remove hub. Almost always they will just fall out after removing the bolts. The hub really did come off just like you see in the video, I never knew that was not a common occurrence.

zaidusa says:

and the hub just came off that easy ? like it wasn’t stuck or anything ? that’s weird, never seen that happen, please explain

Gorbachev says:

Both and no but it couldn’t hurt.

vector6977 says:

the sensor is either good or it isn’t. being a part of the wheel bearing, it probably means the bearing is going bad too.

platypusman17 says:

my car makes noise and it shakes, should I change both or just one bearing.. and does it need an alignment after?

MrMaximus1974 says:

Good video man!!!,,thanks

Chris Gibbs says:

I live in Ohio, obviously the winters up here are horrible on bearings and suspension parts. I used similar tools when removing the assembly. 36mm socket on an impact you can buy one at autozone and return it when done. 13mm swivel socket to remove the back bolts, and used a bearing puller available at autozone for $59 WELL WORTH THE MONEY trust me! Part number is 25916.

clean splines of cv shaft with wire brush, apply anti seize compound and install new hub.
RENT A TORQUE WRENCH TOO!!

APDTY says:

Which part are you trying to disconnect?

Fmj762ify says:

@TheManiac1979 as someone without tools, would it be possible to disconnect using a flat bar and a mini sledge?

Cady Okoh says:

Great video, i need help how to check ABS sensor 2002 Chevy impala.Thanks.

APDTY says:

What I would recommend is that he watches the video. It’s not a difficult job and if he understands all the steps in this video, he should be just fine doing it himself. However if he feels confident after watching, then by all means, he should tackle it himself.

deanna johnson says:

I have a question. My 2006 Chevy Impala needs new front wheel bearings. My husband is pretty good with doing stuff on the car but I was wondering could he do it himself or is this something we should bring in the shop to do? thanks

APDTY says:

I am going off memory here, so please forgive me if I am incorrect, but I am about 80% sure this car used a 36mm Hub nut.

Chris C says:

how big is the hub nut?

Baba Gurgur says:

very usefull video thank you

APDTY says:

Maybe it’s northern cars then that get the corrosion from the salt on the roads? In this job the hub really did come out as easily as shown in the video. Down here in Florida it’s rare for a hub assembly to be seized in the knuckle, they usually just fall out when the bolts are removed.

John Shay says:

Great comment, yes you do have to pound out the bearing, there’s another video on here by A1auto (channel) that shows how to do this and he pounds it quite a bit to get it loose.

HLWD007 says:

Great video and clean work

6kickerboy9 says:

Impala not monte carlo

APDTY says:

Hi, I lock the brakes to allow the torquing of the hub nut without putting stress on the internals of the transmission.

1greenclovers1 says:

Why do you push on the breaks while tightening the hub nut? Also do you know a good place that sells hub bearings (particularly the same kind for an impala 03′) I try not to order through internet. Thanks bud.

Steven Freeman says:

Idk if I trust this guy. This is obviously a chevy impala, not a monte carlo.

TheManiac1979 says:

I’ve changed a lot of w-body front hubs. This video OMITS the most critical part. The person instructing effortlessly wiggles the hub out. Even on a brand new car, this is impossible unless you are the HULK. The bearing hub is PRESSED into the knuckle. When he shows the plate between the hub & knuckle & rotates it, this clearly proves the hub is already loose. GM shop manuals use a puller, I have used an air hammer to release the bearing.

aipo86t says:

Make sure the socket on the 13mm bolts on the back side is good and on square, it’s a very bad day if you round them off. Also if the CV axle needs some persuasion use a center punch so you don’t mushroom out the end, also causing frustration. To prevent possible issues with traction control / ABS you may want to replace both sides at the same time.

APDTY says:

I used my impact wrench to remove the hub nut, you can also take it off with a large ratchet, (after breaking it loose with a breaker bar).

stancooksj says:

Wish I had the powertools to do this. How did you take of the hub nut by the way? At least you gave me a visual which is what I needed.

214bobby says:

wow thank you very much for this great video. now i can save money on fixing it on my own.

jabari thomas says:

Monte Carlo ?

Kyle Thomas says:

After tune up it started right up!!! A little smoke from the pipes came out but it went away after a few minutes. Running great now!!!

Kyle Thomas says:
