Troubleshooting A P1345 Code On A 2002 Chevrolet S-10 4.3 Using The XTool A30M Dongle.

Troubleshooting a P1345 code on a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 4.3 using the A30M dongle, but with a twist. I am a firm believer in using a source for factory service data, such as Alldata or Mitchel1, in order for you to gain as much information about they system you are troubleshooting. Understanding theory and operation is paramount to being able to diagnose the complicated systems on modern vehicles, but sometimes experience can save you a lot of time. Many vehicles have pattern failures, and you can use that knowledge to your advantage. You absolutely need to know how to troubleshoot a system using the proper equipment, but if you are dealing with a vehicle that appears to be having symptoms of a pattern failure, then it is prudent to rule that out before you go through a lengthy diagnostic process just to confirm a pattern failure. Although this truck has other issues, there is no shame in using a shortcut to find out if in fact the vehicle has a pattern failure. There are only two screws holding the distributor cap on so it is a quick test and it is definitive. If there is any appreciable movement on the distributor shaft, the gear is worn and the distributor needs to be replace, or at the very least put a new gear on the shaft. I prefer to replace the entire distributor. Original equipment Delco-Remy distributors are obsolete and are no longer available, but Delphi makes a quality distributor comparable to the OEM part. Delphi makes a lot of parts for GM so I am confident in using their parts when OEM is not available.

I am not sponsored by XTool and I purchased their equipment using my own money. I am not compensated for any endorsement. I believe they make quality products at a good value. A bi-directional dongle with free lifetime updates makes it very affordable for they DIYer to have powerful diagnostic capability with bi-directional controls equal to much more expensive tablets. I am an Amazon affiliate and I do receive a very small commission at no cost to you if you make a purchase using the link provided, and is appreciated beyond measure.

As of the date of this video the price is $179 with a $40 coupon. That is a killer deal and $10 less than I paid for mine. You get dealer quality diagnostics at a fraction of the price and it fits in the palm of your hand.

Had my a30m for about a month now. Frankly, it`s the best bang for your buck out there.
However I do think that the timeout for "Not equipped" systems is way too long.
I recon if a system hasn`t responded within 10 seconds. It should be skipped.
Would cut a lot of time on a full system scan.
