There’s a access panel below the radiator …..maybe research first

95 Deville, Rad does not have to come out. as many of these likely, the fan’s do and the access plate on the radiator support. piece of cake. I hope your not posting these to deter people from doing them by giving mis information so folks would “tend” to take it somewhere.
you don’t know the HALF of it, i work in a GM dealer and am i ever glad the northstar engine is no longer in production! we still see them from time to time, expecally for the coolant by-pass tube that runs around the back of the engine, it SUCKS
chances are they didnt change the valve seal’s, so when you shut it off oil is leaking down the valve when u first starts it, it burns the oil, good luck changing thos without dropping the subframe with engine and trans, thos northstars are a nightmare to work on, and like to leak from bed plate, head bolt threads coming out of the blot, and lots of other fun

I just changed mine to today, it only takes about 10 min if you pick up front end and do it from the bottom then you wont have to take any thing else off.

If the val cover gasket above the alternator is leaking it will wear out the alternator change your gaskets

light blue smoke is burning oil, either problem with the rebuild or the fact that all north stars burn oil. However some engines after they are rebuilt will consume oil for the first 5000 miles.

by the way you dont need to take that out buddy…..small bracket under the alternator unbolt it release tension on belt…..slip belt free then unbolt alternator.
at one time memphis five hundred mono rms…….then down graded to like a 240 rms clarion still burns right through….said f it got some 20 inch rims cause i dont wanna spend 400 on an alternator just to hear some bumps.

When it comes to almost ANY engine work with a northstar engine, you gotta remove the engine, tranny, starter is under instake manifold, pain in the ass to work on.
i own a 97 cadillac sts… recently blew the alternator. is it gonna be the same deal as this deville??

You dont have to remove radiator. You have to remove fans but you can eeplace the alternatir from the bottom
