Where did you get that marker from that you used at the end? I really think
I’d like to start doing that on my vehicles. Also, how are you liking the
Pittsburgh jack? I need to replace my jack and I’ve been looking at one of
the Pittsburgh ones but I don’t know how well they hold up over time. As
always, thanks for the video! Just did the passenger side mount in my Focus
recently. Really helped dampen vibrations as it’s a fluid-filled mount and
the original had lost some fluid.

Chris, My 1988 porsche 944 will not start. I think it could be the fuel
pump because when I took it off the trailer it started and it drove off,
but on the way into my garage it died and wouldn’t start. Is this the only
thing it could be or is there more. I tried pressure testing but the port
on the tester was too small for my shrader valve. It would only stay on the
end and not spin all the way down, but even with the tester only on the end
of the valve I read 0 pressure. Thanks and keep those vids coming they are
really helpful!

Your videos are getting better and better, thanks for putting in the effort

Woodenarrows says:

Much better, pointing out the use of jack stands. Watched the older video
first… Thing to remember is that the car is on jack stands and solid,
that’s good but once you loosen the motor mounts and jack up the motor, now
you have that transmission/engine unit which can fall separate from the car
frame itself. Just play it safe, you’re too young to be losing your digits
:-)

GammaCruxis says:

Great video as always Chris! 😀

You should add a disclaimer that there are about 950 types of
engine/transmission mounts that range from trivial to omfg hard. There are
some that require near engine removal/disassembly to get to.

Edgardo Amado says:

Can u do a video on tire chains for snow and ice? I was recently looking
into it and got really lost. I have even seen some disposable zip ties for
snow traction. Will putting anything in my tires damage any components in
my suspension??? Love ur videos

fordwindsor351 says:

Some may be against this but in given situations I do use the oil/trans.
pan for a jacking point, just use a wide piece of wood and it will be fine.
I have this 8x8x1/2 piece of wood just for this.

along with it!

Pie 4life says:

Nice video even tho i dont need to change them I wached the hole video just
because you have a great way of teaching. Just like every video you made.

moneygeewtee says:

Not sure how you were able to film such a tight clear shot as the engine
was being lowered over the motor mount stud…great video!! Nice job Chris!
Take care.

avalanche says:

are you a full time mechanic or just do this on the side? did you go to
school for this?

A LeBlanc says:

You made that look easy (as usual)! That top tip is just brilliant.
Thanks, Chris.

bahlowwings says:

Hey Chris. You help me alot with your videos on helping me save money by
doing the work myself.

Another question for you. I have this creak problem. Its when i shift into
Drive and reverse ( AT) tranny from a complete stop. Then press the gas

My bushings and suspension feel solid. No broken boots or grease leaking.

According to different car forums alot point to either a tranny mount or
engine mount.

Upon watching your video my engine doesnt hop around nor my tranny clunk.

And another thing i hear it alot on ford escapes (taxis) searched the forum
there no answers.

Have any ideas what could it be?

My local shop said everything looks good. And his only suggestion was to
replace all my mounts since my car has over 118k

I have a question. I drive a 03 jeep wj and I have a few problems one been
the steering. I took it to get it alined but it still don’t drive straight
and if I get on the freeway I have to constantly play with the wheel to
keep it straight. I think it’s my steering gear box but idk how to change
it and what else I should change while I’m at it. Thanks and great videos.

Hey ChrisFix, awesome video. Precise and clear instructions as always. We
really like how you always explain…like in this video “here’s the jack,
Oil Pan and Trans. Pan” etc without boring the viewer. This is why I watch
all your video even if my cars don’t have the problem(knowledge too). Your
videos with precise and clear info really help guys like myself who are not
mechanically inclined.
A ChriFix website would be awesome(as you mentioned before) to dump or link
these videos with a few sponsors.

KingConker101 says:

Chris I have a grinding noise coming from my alternator area when shifting
into drive or reverse. Could this be a bad motor mount. I was told that
they were by Firestone. But sometimes big mechanic shops tell you false
info too make you spend money.

William Calderon says:

Lol. Wiggle it out… Great vid dude

zx8401ztv says:

Loverly job chris :-), crisp as allways and safety tips :-))

By the looks of it that bolt was bad allready, it would have failed later
on down the road.
I like the top extention, that nut was so far away it was in another state
lol 😀

Ive found wood to be really really usefull, the way it deforms to the shape
and spreads the weight automatically, also handy if you havnt got a mallet,
you can hit the wood with a lump hammer and still drive a bearing in
without damage :-))

I remove the entire manual transmission of a 2006 4×4 Toyota Tacoma to
change the worn clutch and pressure plate w/ my classmates as well as
removing the internal of an automatic transmission.

Weese says:

You MUST be a mind reader. I have a leaking coolant bottle and was going to
flush it. My car also has a known issue of one of the front motor mounts to
constantly go bad so I also need to change that.

Thank you again for the video!

william carroll says:

Your video’s are the best, very easy to understand you stay on point love
it!! I have a 986 Boxster it needs some suspension work do you ever work on
Boxsters? Thanks keep up the good work.

cooljt4life says:

Would not of thought of the marker tip, thanks! Love the tips of the day
part of your videos :)

balancebox says:

Sucks the part was defected because I remember watching the video where you
changed it. Thanks for taking the time to record and do the job at the same
time. Probably took twice the amount of time. Notice Sun light change from
day to night =P

vikingjoe93 says:

This is off topic Chris but i have a 1999 ford windstar that the cruise
control stopped working on. i checked the number 10 fuse under the dash and
also replaced the “brake stop switch” on the master cylinder. Any ideas on
where to go from there?

James Coley says:

Another quality video! Nice shots in those tight spaces, too. One thing
this video reminded me to ask you is to consider a tip about when to use
thread lock (and which kind) vs anti-seize.

Thomas Brendel says:

Awesome video once again. The top tip was a good one, I never would have
thought of that!

hermand says:

Really pro vid, Chris. Also loved that you end up with ruined gloves at the
end – mine never seem to last many minutes and I end up with a really dirty
thumb!

Willy Dittmar says:

Good Tips Chris I like your style very informative. Keep em coming. Any
ideas on how to fix a turning squeal on a 1997 960 Volvo?

carlos ramm says:

PureExcellence100 says:

Can you do a video on replacing a rear tie rod(toe adjustment arm/lateral
link) whatever it’s called it has so many names lol.. Thanks man

William Calderon says:

Lmao slip this in the back make sure u get it in there and play with it

kenji8763 says:

Though not at all correct, i have used an unopened bag of rags to cushion a
jack, and jacked up an engine from the oilpan that way.
it’s worth noting it was a 1.2L I4, and therefore very light, but still.

Peter Rassias says:

Another great video… thanks for the info!!

Kr33p3r KILLER says:

Wouldn’t you want the swivel at the end with the socket on it and not at
the top? Wouldn’t you get better leverage and control?
