Not much different than using duct tape, except your able to hide it and
rob the person in faith if your selling this pos. Pride in craftsmanship is
gone it seems, and posters that state, ” quick sell” and the like are
sleaze bags not even worth a bullet.

3DPeter says:

this is only a cheap and quick fix, and not a full restoration, so who
cares how it’s done.

robert -johansen says:

Waxed paper! I’d never think of that. Great idea. Used Bondo as a kid on my
’54 Ford Vic. Worked OK but didn’t know much and didn’t have products like
now. Too many guys bitching on this work. I’m 70 and know what you’ve done
to help the poor bastards like me get by in this world full of negative
assholes. Thanks much.

ROVER25X says:

This is going to come in very hand for me this week, I have a fist sized
rust hole on my car on in the UK repairs at a body shop are expensive, this
repair will get the car through an MOT test which UK cars need to take
every 12 months to drive on the road, many thanks, now subscribed and
watching all your other crazy and helpful videos. ;)

Nicholas Paley says:

Hey man ill be doing this on my work van to get me by to next spring to
pass inspection and love this video till I get a new van. But to soothe the
other tards that think they worked with Chip Foose just explain this is a
temporary remedy. Also add in cost factors vs a typical body shop repairs.
Or even a rental day of a welder if you can weld! 😀

Cheers,

TheBluesology says:

Nice job, thank you. Will try tomorrow

Akbarlious Rezaious says:

I have a little polo which the both engine and gear box work pretty well
but a little bit rust on it. i have been thinking to cover the rust. What
are those materials which your working with? Are they spackle or sth else?

julia latham says:

A rust what sorry? couldn’t hear or see what you were using. Thanks.

Balakrishnan Kavidas Kavidas says:

Just wonderful . Good work

Vlando Charleston says:

All the years of using Bondo this is the best technique I even seen! Thanks
man!!!!

Luis Moreno says:

Brazing with propane and a good rod would have been helpful too. Not to
mention, that it’s cheaper, easier and can provide stronger joints than
welding. Sheet metal welding requires shielding gas for better results than
fluxed core (only works for .8-7.8 mm), but can get blown away by wind,
giving bad results.

Archie Megel says:

Dude are you a chick?
That isn’t even close in how to repair a rust hole
What’s with the paper? All you had to do is pack in enough fabetglass to
cover the area then give it a skim coat of body filler

Luis R. Alicea says:

The only good thing about this video is the idea of using wax paper to
shape the bondo lol, thanks for the tip

Aziz Rehman says:

can you list all the materials you used?

The Next Best says:

what would happen if you put the hardener on last(to cover it up) wouldnt
it just harden outer layer? could i use fiberglass paste with hardener
already in it?-thx

Darryl Edington says:

Don’t forget to spray some undercoat on the back of the hole (clean first),
or water will get in there and rust your patch right out. Tape off
surrounding area… you do not want undercoat on your paint.

mecanicman66 says:

that a quick and easy way to fix and sell the car right away but for a car
you want to keep for years emm no

rfd2477 says:

Great video – just what I needed to do a cheap repair on old car. Cheers
from UK

Patti R.Huang says:

Thanks a lot that’s really useful!!

gumercindo contreras says:

Great job

Seph Angelo says:

Man! I would have brazed that hole with a silver solder or copper wire and
the new bernzomatic JT539T swirl flame torch, then there wouldn’t be too
much body filler consumption. That torch I mentioned is worth 25 dollars
and can braze (which provides stronger joints than welding) just as good as
your typical oxy-acetylene rig or TIG machine.

North Perth says:

Repairing a rust hole could be complicated– if done absentmindedly. This
is a very informative video! cheers mate!

Niki de Brun says:

Thanks

Gerson Moraes says:

Kurt, What the name, or composition, of this blue resin?
Here in Brasil we have Isoftalic Resin, to build boats. Is it the same? How
much time this repair keep adhered?

North Perth Car Repairs says:

Thank you for sharing this awesome video with us. I learned a lot from it
though I have some tips from my own mechanic also. Thanks for this.

bam bam says:

Wrong Fail!!! First if you are going to use fiber glass i would use long
hair first in the hole then short to smooth over. The right way would be to
remove all rust and making a metal patch and then using panel bonding
adhesive to glue the metal to car. In the autobody world we can that a
MAACO job.

North Perth Mechanics says:

Excellent! thank you so much for showing us how to repair rust hole in our
vehicles. Good job!

jphritz011 says:

Also, great thinking using the wax paper to shape and smooth the material.
It sure cuts back on money/time.

oe6oaf says:

Thats not repair…thats rust hiding…..you can also put a chewing gum on
this rust….

jphritz011 says:

Do your patches tend to last a while? Fiberglass is very durable material,
so I can see getting a fair amount of time out of them. Do you undercoat
the exposed/rusted metal as well?

Talscar1 says:

Any videos you have with a hole in the Forward Passenger Piller?
I got a ZL Fairlane i wanna fix and my dad wants to dump, cause of the rust.

I set a time frame of 1 week up and it should be all together in that time
but it would be good to know if their is anyway to prevent rust as well
after welding in a new piece of metal into the car.

Their are 3 or 4 holes. 2 are about 2 inch’s and the others about 3-15 cm
in size.

fekix222 says:

Awesome easy way to fix rust holes thanks A+

Jessica Gray says:

Is this safe to use if the rust hole is on the hood of the car? I worry
about gunk falling into the engine.

S Oldi says:

Pfusch. Schlimmer geht es kaum.

Pete Mason says:

Handy tip for filling to lessen sanding back, but I wouldn’t use it to fill
a hole. I would’ve just cut out and spotted in a new piece of metal.
Would’ve allowed me to get into any rust behind also.
