I want to install one of these pumps as a booster pump. My CJ7 is not run
for months and needs a short boost to pump the fuel to the carb prior to
starting. Do I install the electric pump prior or after the mechanical
pump?

Could you recommend a saftey switch for low engine psi? (15-60ish)?
Thanks again for your help and the video!

AGWINST says:

What is the small cylinder attached to the inlet side of the pump? Is it a
fuel filter, pressure regulator, or something else? Thanks!

rag Doll says:

Just wondering which in tank pump you would recommend for my cj7 jeep? I am
upgrading from my carb system to a GM TBI/fuel injection.. I am only
looking at a maximum of 15psi… I have a new MTS 15gal part #0051 plastic
tank?
Thanks bunches for your time. :)

Gilbert Rasco says:

I am currently looking at a 1982 pontiac firebird and i was told that it
needs a new fuel pump and that the car is not carburetored. I am most
certain it is a direct injected V8. Would i use the same process shown
here?

Gilbert Rasco says:

why should the outlet be installed higher than the inlet?

gabomorera says:

this is a 1987 OMC boat with a 4.3 L changing to universal electrical pump.
what should I do with the air line that was connected to the mechanical
pump?

Airtex Pumps says:

Hello Shervin: The pump should run continuously. If it only runs
intermittently then I would check the power & ground connections. If you
need anymore help with this issue please call our free tech line:
800-424-7839, and they will be glad to assist you in diagnosing the
problem. Thanks for watching.

Airtex Pumps says:

There are many steps to this process depending on vehicle type, engine
size, pump placement, etc. We address some of these issues in our video. If
you need more detailed help on your application please call our free Tech
Support Hotline 800-424-7839 & we’d be happy to walk you through it. Thanks.

ThunderHead289 says:

wow. they make this out to be way harder than it has to be. I really need
to make a pump installation video

Airtex Pumps says:

Certain types of fuel pumps are quieter than others. The type of fuel pump
needed is all determined by the style, fuel pressure & volume needs of your
specific vehicle.

Airtex Pumps says:

The psi for most Chevy mechanical fuel pumps is 5-9 psi. You can use our
E8012S as a replacement for this pump as it provides the 5-9 psi needed.
Thanks for watching!

Shervin Miller says:

I have a holley carb, with a 350 engine. The pump runs, but only
intermittedly. Is suppose to run like that….

Kitty King says:

Is there a low pressure in tank pump for a carbureted 5.3 swap?

Airtex Pumps says:

A universal add on fuel pump is an option but, maybe a better one is to
change the mechanical fuel pump to a high performance that will offer more
flow when you need it. You can purchase our hi-perf mech. pump (Airtex part
number 350) that will keep up with your engine. It will deliver up to 110
gph of fuel flow. If you have any more questions on this please call our
free Tech Support Line (800-424-7839). Thanks for watching!

jerry barnard says:

okay i have a 82 chevy k20 with a 350 chevy which has been built and bored
to .40 over, what pump would be a good boost pump the mechanical does the
job until the engine is put under extreme load (truck pull or mudd bog) and
can it be ran to a toggle switch

Airtex Pumps says:

We would highly recommend removing the defective pump as it can create a
restriction in the fuel system, which could result in either of these two
issues: 1) May prevent the new pump from providing the correct amount of
fuel or 2) May shorten the life of the new pump as it has to work harder to
pull the fuel from the tank. Removing the pump will obviously add time and
effort, but it is well worth it. If you have any other questions, don’t
hesitate to ask. Thanks for watching.

Nicholas Shetley says:

Do you guys have a quiet fuel pump?

Brenda Ramos says:

replacing a mechanical fuel pump on a 350 sb with a 2barrel carburetor,
what is the recommended psi’s needed on a new electric fuel pump to replace
the mechanical fuel pump?…… because the pin got stuck & won’t go in or
out!

Airtex Pumps says:

We do not offer universal in tank pumps. However, we do have a pump
available for this that is in-line. Please call our free Tech Support Line
(800-424-7839) if you’d like more application information. Thanks!

SeeJ Slim says:

Cool video, but one step you didn’t show nor elaborate on. The I terminal
is for the ignition…. But where is the wire going to connect ?

Airtex Pumps says:

The I terminal will connect to a switched fused ignition source. You can
use an unused fuse in the fuse box or other source that is only powered
when the key is switched on. If you need anymore help on this or anything
else, please call the free Airtex Tech Support Line at 1-800-424-7839. Hope
this helps. Best Regards.
