You may want to follow the drip to see where it’s coming from.

Diane Castillo says:

a friends cadillac leaks coolant from the hose hanging down the coolant tank the car doesnt over heat, temperature stays at 194. what could be the problem? please help

Albee98188 says:

Maybe blown head gasket. I have a 99 Deville and it runs perfect but sucks coolant very slow and seems fine. The only way I found that the gasket was blown was when I drive up a hill then the temperature shoots thru the roof.

You may want to check the dipstick to see if it’s going into the crankcase somehow.

The hose on the coolant reservoir should be connected to the radiator so that any excess coolant from the radiator will flow back into it. When the radiator is low on coolant, it will pull coolant from the reservoir back into the radiator to replenish itself. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

bluekeet says:

I have a 1996 cadillac deville that is always losing water coolant and have to refill the coolant tank about every 3 days. I replaced a water hose but thats about it. Also, is the hose that’s attached near the coolant tank cap supposed to hang down into nothing. I mean I think it’s losing fluid when the car heats up, since the hose is not attached to any container. A reply would be nice, ty.

Sosa Yoola says:

Can you do one on the alternator

1aauto says:

The Dex cool is ok, but you have to follow the recommended instructions when using it. If you change it at the recommended intervals you shouldn’t have an issue. You also do not want to mix it with regular antifreeze unless the bottle states that it is safe to do so.

andreboy10 says:

Hi, I recently commented on this video. Can you tell me why you used the green coolant what does it help? and whta do you think about dex cool?

andreboy10 says:

Thank You for the quick reply

1aauto says:

It’s a return from the radiator to the over flow. If the radiator has to much fluid, the excess fluid goes back in to the bottle through the hose.

andreboy10 says:

what is the hose doing thats running from/into the top of the tank the small one what does it do?

1aauto says:

It more that likely doesn’t have a cabin air filter. If you have the dealer run the VIN number on the vehicle they can tell you if it came equipped with this option or not.

victor landeros says:

So Mike this Cadillac is yours? Can you tell if these cars have a Cabin Air Filter?

This is awesome! Never see any vids for 97-99 Devilles. Its always nice to have that little extra help. Recently purchased 4 ignition coils from you guys, 2 months and still going great! Heck of a deal too!

1aauto says:

You could probably repair the leak and then test the system to see if anything else needs to be fixed.

Thanks a bunch for taking the time to reply.

1aauto says:

It should say right on the side of the reservoir. Usually it will have a hot and cold level setting.

archangeloftampa7 says:

cool video. still I was unable to determine visually what the coolant level should be inside the reservoir.
