How to diagnose & replace cooling fan controller 1986 to 1991 Cadillac Seville Eldorado Deville

My fans weren’t coming on when they were supposed to in order to cool the motor down so I figured out I needed to replace the cooling fan control module. This is a super easy repair on these cars as its probably the easiest part to get to on the whole car. I show how to diagnose whether its the controller or the fan, and how to replace it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Good video. Cadillac seem to make its vehicles with a fan control module (fan controller) this acts as the relay. There is no fan relay when its equipped with a fan controller. There will be a small fuse but most likely the fan issue would be a faulty controller. Thank you for showing in depth what the issue is and how you fixed it!

I am having the same issue with my 1986 Coupe de viile.

Barbara Mowrey says:

My air compressor is off because my refrigerant is gone! It says air compressor shut off! So that’s why my fans aren’t running. Going to check that out!The mechanic ran a line from the fuse box to the fan to make it work until we can figure this out. The temperature for the thermostat out of the radiator should be 195 so the fan should come on!

Something sexy about a lady mechanic

Coo DeVille says:

I was looking at a VW Jetta that only had one working fan. The fan wouldnt even turn manually. I put it up on my lift……..lo and behold………the radiator support was smashed up and I would have never seen it unless I was underneath.

Deva, I have a 1990 Cadillac Seville STS, much like your car. My AC compressor needs to be replaced as confirmed via yellow colorant dye placed in refridgerant. That is my next step.
