I have a 95 Honda accord. My car lights (interior and exterior) flashes
every time I reach 2500 to 3000 rpm. I’ve disconnected the negative battery
and test it using an Innova 3310 and read a .05 amp. There is know
significant drop of amps. Where should I look next??? .

SombraLocs says:

Can someone help me out, My car is having a Type A Misfire. The check
engine light would start flashing every now and then especially when
driving on a steep road. I took my car to Autozone to get it checked and
one of the codes were P0302 which is a Cylinder 2 misfire and the other one
is a P0421 a Catalyst system efficiency below threshold. Can anybody tell
me what the problems might be and where should I start first? Please I
would really appreciate it.

tigaspinoypower says:

Great video sir… Sir! I have obd2 and i did check my check engine (its
not blinking) but steady light and the code is P0303 on my 96 passport v6
engine and said “cylinder 3 missfire” and the thing is i dont know exactly
where is cylinder 3, can you please help me locate the cylinder 3. Thanks a
bunch….

Good job mate!

khalid Qweder says:

Really useful.

Thank You.

Awesome Video!

meTimetraveler says:

how does the PCM know there was a misfire in a cylinder ? the ox sensor?
I had an exhaust rocker arm come off and the PCM through a code for that
cylinder.

malaska91 says:

is it possible to have a misfire with no codes showing?

CARMIN ANNA COLE says:

This guy knows his stuff!!! and I live by Autolite* Thank You

Bryant M says:

HELP Please!…

2001 S40 Volvo.
I have two codes P0303 and P0304 cylinder 3 and 4. Rough idle, stall, poor
gas milage, slow acceleration, etc…
Both of these cylinders 3 and 4 are coils, and have to slaves wires for 1
and 2.
1-4 2-3 I switched coils to see if anything changed. It did not has the
same symptoms.

Plugs look “normal”, fuel pressure on the line, can’t find a vacuum leak,
I’m stuck.
I have been debating to purchase coils and wires, but they’re 150+ and am
not sure if that is even the problem.

DAVID FERNANDEZ says:

VERY VERY GOOD AND INFORMATIVE.

william john says:

my f 250 runs worse the more i drive

ANGEL BABY says:

My light goes off and on now. Before it stayed on then I had 2 oxygen
sensors changed so now the flashing check engine light is intermittent.
The spark plugs were changed 5,000 miles ago and this car is a 1988 Mustang
GT so there are no coils.

Alberto Lopez says:

My audi a4 has a rough idle, the shaking goes away when I accelerate. The
dealer changed the coil packs and the spark plugs, still shakes and
recently the check engine light flashes when idling. Anyone know what the
most likely problem is ?????

Randy Rombach says:

Please help. 2003 dodge neon. Im still getting p0302 even after changing my
ignition coil, platinum plugs, ngk wires, valve cover, valve cover gasket,
intake manifold gasket, spark plug tube gaskets, air filter. What else is
there to troubleshoot?

Jose Garcia says:

Start by checking the spark on cylinder #2 I had the same issue on a Ford
escape, it had a bad ignition coil, get rid of the misfire and then you
will probably have to replace the cat as I did! Misfires kill the cat

Tammie Davidson says:

Check engine light came on my 1998 Honda Accord 3.0. It is showing codes
p0304, p0108, p0122, p1519, p1399, 61-01 and 81-01. Replaced plug wires and
plugs, distributor cap and rotary cap, and changed several sensors and It
is still doing the same thing and showing the same codes. Could you help
please

harooni22 says:

man a misfire is a major pain in the ass

jphritz011 says:

Thank you!!

cadzillals6 says:

When the engine light is flashing, that is a hard misfire. This type of
misfire will quickly destroy your catylitic converter. You need to have it
scanned for codes, any autozone will do this free. Most common causes are
bad spark plugs, bad spark plug wires, bad coils in that order. Let us know
what the codes are and we can try to help.

cadzillals6 says:

Misfire on cylinder number four.

rsanch8695 says:

Thanks Jay! However! My instincts to re do the test at another Autozone
paid off! Obviously the last tech either was not familiar with the
instrument or was just plain lazy or both. The tech at the recent Azone
diagnosed (with the same instrument) a mis fire in the 6th cylinder. So a
new coil wire and plug will do the trick. But the 6th plug is a beast to
get to so here goes the wallet upside down!. Thanks again!

cadzillals6 says:

Daniel, Have you tried swapping injectors to se eif that is the problem?
Need to check compression as well. Sears actually sells a pretty sweet
compression tester for around 50 bucks,

slednck3 says:

my 96 crown vic had grounded out because of stereo harness and all
electrical components had blown and an hour later my cars got a check
engine light and today not moving just idleing i got a flashing check
engine light

cadzillals6 says:

Sounds like your fuel pump check valve is leaking. Attaching a fuel
pressure guage to the test port will show if it is. It should hold pressure
overnight.

xadam2dudex says:

cars r too complex now days…it’s time for electric cars

next492 says:

P0300 check ur engine oil, if it got like chocomilk or diferent color then
it means replaced head gasket, P0171 put new air filter, if it stills there
then change Maf sensor P0442 change the gas gop, try these I fixed in the
past this codes

cadzillals6 says:

You need to test fuel pump output for both pressure and volume.

James Branson says:

How would a problematic distributor cause a random misfire? I have a 98
Sebring with a distributor that was recently changed and has been running
like crap ever since then. Should I just have it replaced to stop the
random misfire?

Ulysses Gladden says:

Awesome clear video

cadzillals6 says:

@abaga1299 I would be happy to try. What kind of car and what is going on?
You can email me directly at jay.buckley@framgrp.com

Jessie Taylor says:

I have a 2008 dodge avenger and the check engine light been flashing the
dealer said it was a blowin head gasket so I changed it now the number four
spark plug misfiring I can take it out and it fires everything could the
catylitic converter be bad ???? could that cause it to misfire???

ib4babes says:

My 02′ Infinity QX4 engine light flashes on highway or wen i raise the
engine @ high RPM and i use extra fuel lately. Getting PO304 code. what
might be the cause?

uh bunch says:

I have a 2007 Expedition with 5.4 L triton. A heater hose over the
passenger bank of the engine began leaking. Antifreeze pooled on top of the
engine and around the spark plug boots. I replaced the bad heater hose and
shop vac’d the coolant off and down around the plugs. When test driving the
check engine light started flashing and the engine sputters. Does this
sound like the spark plugs are wet with antifreeze? I thought driving would
evaporate it. Next stop Autozone for code reading.

carl watson says:

hi i think the coolant is on the boot or ignition coil ford s are famous
for the coil problem

03lew03 says:

1998 Blazer, new fuel pump, new plugs, new wires , new cap and roter. Check
engine light is on. Hard idle sometimes.

ponchopio64 says:

One of the best diagnostic videos I’ve seen. Outstanding! I learned an
immense amount. Thank you for taking the time and putting the effort forth
to produce a video of this quality.

Roderick Wade says:

hey jay i have a 08 cadillac sts and when driving the car if you try to
give it gas it jerks and loses power and the check engine light sometimes
flashes or comes on and stays on it only does this if you try to give it
gas to pass someone or speedup i took it to the cadillac shop and they said
it was a misfire and just cleared the code and said it would be fine well
its not now its worse any ideas

jnnycliff says:

or just trad in the old car for a newer used one? cheap but reliable toyota
or honda car.

uh bunch says:

If a misfire results from antifreeze pooling around the spark plug valleys,
what is it most likely to foul: a coil, a wire or a plug? I’ve read
numerous posts about the difficulty and chances of breaking spark plugs on
these engines that I don’t want to just jump in there and start removing
plugs just yet…

Tiffany Peel says:

Hello 🙂 I have a 2002 Ford Taurus. I recently replaced the coil pack due
to a couple hairline cracks, but my engine is still misfiring. Is is
possible for a cracked coil pack to ruin spark plugs or spark plug wires?
Would it be worth it to replace them?

NONE says:

Hi, I have a Ford Taurus.. The problem is as exact as you say in the video.
P0300, P0171, and P0174 are appear on my vehicle check engine light. i took
to two shops, they all recommend me to take tune-up first. So. Could I
comfirm that is a vacuum leak?

SophieMia806 says:

The only difference now is that my engine light just came on this past
Tuesday, and started blinking. I had never seen it blink before & it kind
of worried me. I just hope these new coils & boots fix the problem, because
they can’t be returned. And the mechanic wanted $1000 for parts & labor.
Thank goodness for auto parts stores.

adam murphy says:

This has to be the best video I have seen to help me understand better, I
have a 2000 mustang gt with a p0300 code that has been a pain to try and
figure out

rsanch8695 says:

Here’s the deal. About 6 months ago i had my 06 durango tunes up. Just the
other day I pulled my battery cables off to clean the terminals. After
that, the eng lite came on and began to misfire. The autozone tech could
NOT get a reading code period. suggested a few things one of them, to let
it ride out. After this video, I’m not too sure! HELP!
