Cadillac SRX Dead Battery Replacement 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016

My wifes 5 year old battery finally died in a supermarket parking lot. Replacement was simple. only took 10 minutes and cost about $130 at Oreilly auto. I’m going to take the old battery and try rejuvenate it using my desulfator.

Thanks for the video-just replaced mine on a 2013 SRX. The battery was just a year old and it had been installed at the dealer. I found that the battery hold-down on the battery would allow the battery to move thus shorting out a cell. I didn’t use the wedge with the hold-down and it held the battery without any movement. Also like another comment I used dielectric grease on the battery contacts to prevent corrosion. Your battery had the same hold-down flange as mine. Try moving it side to side to see if it is snug.

The plate that lays on the battery with positive wire connections (not the battery cover) does not pull off easily. I found a flat head screwdriver placed in the slots of the plate makes it release easily. The slots are on the top of the plate along the battery edge. So the screwdriver goes in tge slots straight down pointed towards the floor. Thanks for sharing.

Helped me a lot. Some verbal narrative could help more on releasing the tabs and clips.

You should keep the negative battery cover ON until the last move. One little slip, and you will blow that 350 amp fuse, and it's not cheap. Clean and dielectric grease on all connections. If the system trips out for under voltage with the old battery, remove old battery and insure new battery is fully charged, above 12.6, to reset system. If you don't, you will hear a buzz, weak parking lights will be on, and no start attempts will be successful until you do. "When the Cadillac speaks, you should listen".

Thank you!!!

Great video thanks….I was told not to wear any jewelry when changing out a battery as a wrench or ratchet could make a connection and burn your finger, any input on this? Thanks

A dab of dielectric silicone on the posts and terminals would be of benefit.

Thanks for the video. Replaced the battery and the car would not start but obviously had electrics again. Remote would work door locks and trunk hatch. I looked at some youtube videos on pairing keys. The trick that worked was hold the start button for 12 seconds, release and then start.

@chriscoleman6035 says:

I was told there is a something that needs to be reset when changing the battery. Is that true?

@sosadagod6963 says:

Thanks buddy, just changed it out

I read if you didn't back up yourcomputer memory,a lot of settings are lost. A plug in to the lighter saves them. Any auto store carries the adapter. Worked fine.
