Don’t know if you fixed it yet. But most likely it’s the gasket for the oil
filter housing. I have a 05 deville and it’ has the same issue.

Leonard Loco says:

Yea they all leak right at the lower main. The lower part of the engine
that holds the main bearings in has a gasket around it that leaks on every
Northstar, but the sad part is that it’s nearly impossible to repair the
leak without pulling the engine. It leaks above the oil pan. Also, your IAC
valve has torx bit screws.

Albee213 says:

I have a 98 Deville and in the process of finding oil leaks and possibly
repairing them, its expensive and I dont mind slight oil leaks, however I
can smell them when I am driving and thats kind of lame. These are nice
cars but unless you have deep pockets or a garage and lots of time/tools I
wouldnt suggest owning one. I have gone down a long list of maintenance and
repairs on mine going 90% of the work to shave thousands.

exceptionalchris says:

How many miles on it? It looks like the oil pan or rear main seal. Both are
expensive a hell on that northstar engine. If u can even find someone
willing to fix it.

VCTRFS says:

has about 85k on it atm. Still smoking and its a pain

Joey Matias says:

Check your oil pressure sensor, it’s right next to your oil filter I think
cause that leak is around that area..
