No way anyone with out proper training or knowledge should ever attempt
working on a gas furnace. THIS CAN CAUSE PROPERTY DAMAGE AND DEATH.
Thanks for posting this. I fixed my own furnace last year by cleaning off
the burner sensor rod, forget what it’s called exactly. Two things:
Firstly, ALWAYS shut off the power to the furnace at the electrical panel
first then also the furnaces own power switch, turning down your thermostat
does NOT stop power to the furnace, that’s why you got shocked. Secondly,
I’ll bet money your air filter is under sized, that’s why you have such a
dirty internal furnace compartment. Put in a bigger one that doesn’t have
so much clearance it wobbles about and you’ll probably get a little more
efficiency out of your furnace. Thanks again and take care! :)

mi furnace seems to ignite but it won’t blow air anymore. been looking for
a vid that deals with replacing a blower motor.
change your filter? What a joke. I am pretty sure if my gas valve has gone
bad, a filter change ain’t gonna help!

Cleaning the flame sensor saved me at least $ 125.00 thanks
The inducer motor went bad on our Rudd gas furnace. Ordered new one but it
didn’t come with the sensor mounted on it like the old one. Does anyone
know if I can drill out a small air hole and mount the old sensor on the
new inducer? And will it work?
I know he’s trying to help but he said 40$ ignitor x2 so 80$ + gas + time +
getting zapped. People die from 120vac. That would take me 75$ trip charge
and I charge 50$ for universal ignitor. 125 bucks and I make out good since
a universal more durable ignitor cost me 15$. In this price you will get a
full diagnosis of your furnace and probably would be pulling out my vacuum
as well. And a filter for five bucks. Find a company between 3-6 vans stay
away from the one man bands and huge conglomerates.

what do you hook the 2 wires into on your thermostat? also, I have 2 wall
heaters, the pilot lights on both, but only one of them fires up when I
crank it to the on setting. The one that does turn on is connected to the
thermostat, and the main control apparatus is very hot, and I don’t even
have the pilot light on, why would it be so hot? and what can I trouble
shoot on the one that doesn’t light? thanks!

My gas valve is tricking after the unit started to cool off, it only allow
me to have heat only 10-20 minutes than it shut off, I didn’t get the
temperature I set at thermostat, I already replace new gas valve, new
mother board and ignition module also. I don’t know what wrong with it? I
wonder if I should replace inducer circuit board too! Please help. My
thermostat is not battery is model Honeywell CT87N. It brand new every is
hooked up correctly.
This is not a DIY thing .Do not play with gas if you are not certified to
do it.

Dude, don’t DIY if you don’t know what you’re doing…… particularly with
a flammable gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leave it to the techs. Your
diagnosis, although correct, is a GUESS….. You’re electrocuting yourself.
Igniters are a little more robust than you make them out to be. The
“white stuff” is not abnormal (it is oxidation). BTW, fuses blow for a
reason. If you have a blown fuse then there’s another problem there. You
do have the basic idea of what’s going on….. good job.

Thanks for the video. It was 42F out tonight in Elko, NV. Your quick and
easy check list found the problem. I checked the thermostat batts last a
voila- solved the problem. I did go inside the the cabinet where the
circuit board is. I didnt have the light code but rather a test circuit.
It test fine. Then I checked the filter and batteries. changed both and I
have a happy warm family again. Many blessings your way. TJ
I need to know if some one knows how a holly stubby furnace works
Your blower is coming on before ur burners my guess bad board. The little
fan comes on first then hsi or hot surface igniter, then gas then fan or
blower. Good job for the most part but replace ur board it will run….
What the fuck are you getting at?
Really shouldn’t be messinh with your gas furnace. Too many variables. If
you mess up you could have carbon monoxide or start a fire.
My furnace was shutting down after 5 minutes. Checked all the possible
causes. Discovered that the blower motor was failing, causing heat
build-up, and thermal shut-down. Replaced the blower motor, and all was
good. Saved 60% of the cost by installing it myself. Just FYI.
well done, my flame sensor was pretty grotty, cleaned her up with sand
paper and now i have a functioning heater, thank you!

With that old carrier furnace, you bettrr pull that high limit out and
check for cracks in the exchanger. Found alot of thosd busted around the
dimple just inside the limit. Just an FYI
