Vapor purge valves are an important part of the EVAP system that allow the contained fuel vapors to be released into the combustion chamber under certain conditions. Modern purge valves are controlled by the vehicle’s computer system, and electronic solenoids. Failure of the valve or the control solenoid will result in an emissions trouble code that could prevent passing emissions testing. This video shows you how to install a new vapor purge valve or purge valve solenoid on your 2010-16 Buick Lacrosse.

Cars in the shop rn my issue is the canister vent valve which is located above the gas tank.

I bought a used 2016 Buick LaCrosse V-6 and have had it for two days now. Check engine light came on and it is throwing a P0496 code. The first thing I did was check the gas cap and cleaned the seal; it didn't look bad. I guess the evap vent valve will be the next thing I look at and replace, since this would seem to be a more likely issue than the gas cap.
That is the purge valve- not the vent valve. Try again.
